YouTuber-turned-rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., also known as DDG, has set the Internet abuzz after claiming that he had spoken with his 14-month-old son, Halo, earlier this week.
This news comes days after he accused his ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey of restricting his access to the child. DDG recently addressed his fans in a vlog where he said:
"I talked to my son this morning. All you parasocials, y’all can stop y’all thinkpieces now. Can y'all stop saying, 'Free Halo?'"
DDG recently took to social media to reveal that he has had issues since he was not able to see his son for long periods of time, saying the longest he has had Halo in his possession was 72 hours.
These comments sparked online discussions, with some users empathizing with his plight, while most of the others questioned him for airing family grievances in public. DDG’s remarks gained immediate attention on social media, with some accusing him of cloud chasing. One user commented:
"It’s giving clout chaser"

"It’s clear that he does things for public perception. Instead of going to family court, he’s addressing us." Wrote one user.
"It's so sad how he use his son for social media content." Commented another.
"He the one who started it coming to soical media crying" remarked one instagram user.
"Stop being a brat, the baby was sick with RSV. Wait until he feels better, my God!" wrote another.
People pointed out the hypocrisy and stated how the rapper was seen partying a day before, which led them to believe that DDG was just putting on a show.
"Bro was just on IG Live with five bottle girls, now he talking about fatherhood. Duality of man." Read one comment.
"Mind you he was at the club last night with multiple ladies, smh" said a X user
More about DDG’s statements regarding his son
Amid the controversy, DDG released a satirical song called “Please Don’t Take My Son,” in which he accused Bailey of “playing games like Twitch” and trying to be “hard on purpose.” The song was intended to be a tongue-in-cheek response to the ongoing situation.
The rapper compared his position to that of a “nanny” and claimed that a paid caretaker had spent more time with the child than he had. In his YouTube video, he also stated how he felt distanced from his son and was being treated as a second parent.
"It’s getting to a point where I feel like I’m honestly getting bullied when it comes to me just wanting to just be a dad,"
Halle Bailey has remained largely silent on the rapper's claims and recently disclosed that both she and Halo were recovering from an upper respiratory infection, potentially accounting for why visits had been less in the past few days.
