Stranger Things actor David Harbour responded to his split from his wife Lily Allen in a GQ Hype interview published on April 23. The two separated last year, after which it was reported by the Daily Mail that Allen was using the celeb dating app Raya and Harbour was having an affair for three years during their marriage.
"I'm protective of the people and the reality of my life. There’s no use in that form of engaging (with tabloid news) because it’s all based on hysterical hyperbole."
The actor mentioned that he's also going through a period of growth and change,
"There's a lot of change - a tremendous amount of change. You can deny this change, be afraid of this change, you can kind of be chaotic about it and, like, eat your way through - whatever you need to do."
When asked whether or not he was okay after the divorce, the actor said that while things are hard, he's "choosing to make it a period of growth."
In a March 2025 article, the Daily Mail reported that Harbour was having a three-year affair with a younger costume designer. An insider, while speaking to the publication, mentioned,
"David cheated on Lily. They met on a movie they did together. They weren’t very secretive about their relationship. David flew her to Atlanta while he shot Stranger Things to keep him company."
What has Lily Allen said about David Harbour?
Lily Allen and David Harbour met on the celeb dating app Raya in 2019. The same platform that she suspected him of using, even after they were married in 2020.
In a past appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Allen revealed that she had never been on a dating app before and decided to try Raya and was "swiping for a bit of fun" before she came across David's profile, where he was dressed as a "s*** policeman."
Allen admitted that she didn't know the Stranger Things actor, and thought he was just a "s*** policeman from a reality TV show" since he was wearing a policeman's uniform.
However, while speaking to the Daily Mail in January 2025, a source close to the actress mentioned that she was in "agony" after discovering that David Harbour was still using the app. The source revealed that Allen joined the app again herself, pretending to look for women, and found David Harbour's profile, which noted that the actor was active on the app for at least a month.
The source revealed that Allen would look for women on the app and cross-check with Allen's following list on Instagram to figure out who he was seeing.
