In a recent conversation with CBS Sunday Morning, John Mulaney, the renowned 42-year-old comedian, spoke about his wife, actress Olivia Munn's breast cancer diagnosis.
The X-Men: Apocalypse actress, 44, was diagnosed with the disease in 2023. Recently, her husband lauded her for her determination and bravery.
"Seeing so many women publicly and privately come to her that [say] they discovered how high their risk was from that, it’s astonishing."
Over the past years, John confronted his addiction and revealed his journey on sobriety. Recently, he emphasised his wife's contribution to his route to recovery.
John Mulaney shared about Olivia Munn's breast cancer diagnosis in 2023
From discovering the disease to battling it and undergoing multiple treatment procedures, Olivia Munn remained quite vocal about this critical journey. She shared glimpses of her dealing with breast cancer on social media, thus motivating many women on their paths.
Recalling the time of her diagnosis, John Mulaney added,
"There's this lifetime risk assessment test that is really the only reason her cancer was discovered."
In March 2024, the actress revealed her story of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Sharing a series of pictures of her treatment procedures and a heartfelt note, she penned,
"I hope by sharing this it will help others find comfort, inspiration and support on their own journey."
Olivia Munn disclosed her breast cancer timeline
Last September, the actress shared a video outlining her cancer timeline. Her first two mammograms and two ultrasounds took place in January 2022. A second mammogram in January 2023 produced clear results. In February 2023, genetic testing indicated a 0% chance of a genetic disorder.
However, in the next test in March 2023, the Tyzer-Cuzik breast cancer assessment score was 37.3%. Munn's breast cancer was diagnosed in April 2023 after an MRI, ultrasound, and biopsies.
What started with negative results became a lengthy process of procedures and treatment. Focusing on her journey, Olivia spoke with Vogue in May 2024 and shared,
"I took out my uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. Doing a full hysterectomy was a big decision to make, but it was the best decision for me because I needed to be present for my family."

After the comedian's breakup with his former wife, Mulaney and Munn's love blossomed in 2021. A source close to John revealed to People,
"This is very new, they’re taking it slowly. They met at church in Los Angeles."
John announced Olivia's pregnancy on Late Night with Seth Meyers in September 2021. The couple welcomed their eldest child, Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney, on November 24, 2021.
John and Olivia married in July 2024 in New York. On September 14 of that year, they welcomed their second child, Méi June Mulaney, via surrogacy.
