Twisters star Glen Powell revealed the playdate his dog, Brisket, had with Demi Moore's dog, Pilaf. While promoting his new condiment line, Smash Kitchen, the actor told People magazine in an interview.
Talking about his meet-up and photo shoots with Demi Moore's Pilaf, he said, "So it was one for the books."
Powell remembered,
"Demi was out here in London, and we went to go meet up with Demi and Pilaf."
He added,
"And I got to say that was... All Demi ever texts me about is the Pilaf and Brisket meeting. So it was one for the books. We had a very cute photo shoot."
The actor went on to say that it was the dog's first time meeting and called it "a great day," which also included a photo shoot, which Powell referred to as "a very cute photo shoot."
Powell joked about Brisket's career venture, as Brisket's goals are in the movie/show business, while Demi Moore's dog, Pilaf, is more into photoshoots. Pilaf has already been on the digital cover of Vogue.
Glen Powell said,
"Brisket will be making a cameo in [TV series] Chad Powers this fall and in [the film] Running Man this fall."
He added while smiling,
"So yeah, Brisket will be on the press tour with me doing his own junkets, I'm sure,"
Glen Powell and his dog Brisket's story
Glen Powell adopted Brisket during the summer of 2023 while filming Twisters. He revealed in an interview with TODAY,
“I was going through a breakup at the time and I remember sitting in a café in Enid, Oklahoma. It was something I thought about a lot, but it was somewhere in this coffee shop in Enid.... I don't even know how to describe it, I just had the desire to be a father."
He added,
“He’s been the greatest addition to my life ever,”
Glen Powell found Brisket through a rescue organization located in Los Angeles called The Labelle Foundation.
At that time, Powell, on Instagram, followed these adoption and rescue pages and found Brisket there. According to Powell, he literally begged his friends to help him adopt the dog by vouching for him.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly,
“I literally messaged, saying, ‘Please put in a good word for me, I sent them a heartbreakingly depressing video of me why I needed this dog.”
He went all the way to Los Angeles in the midst of shooting Twisters to pick Brisket up. Glen Powell recollected that the cast and crew knew how excited he was to go and pick Brisket up.
“Everybody knew how excited I was. I was like, ‘Guys, I’m going to pick him up!’”
Upon adopting Brisket, Powell took to Instagram and wrote,
"It's a ruff world out there, so I thought it was about time I hire a proper bodyguard."
Brisket was present on the set of Twisters as a "set mascot."
Glen Powell added more information about Brisket being on set,
“He was crate training and all that stuff, so he was crying through the night. I felt like literally a new father, where I wasn’t sleeping while shooting this movie. But Brisket would just kick it with every department head, and he would sit in my chair and just sleep. I had the most adorable picture of Brisket in my Twisters chair at the rodeo. But he really became sort of a set mascot on that movie. It's just adorable."”
He continued,
“Sets can be very lonely places. And it’s interesting when you see a dog that’s filling you up with love, how it brings a cast together even more. There’s something wonderful about animals, about how they can bring our walls down a bit and expedite friendships and things like that. So, yeah, Brisket’s been amazing.”
Brisket is now a cover star. He shot a photo with Entertainment Weekly. Powell told TODAY while talking about the photoshoot,
“I just had my dog on set with me, and they said, ‘Can we do a test?’ You know, like, a camera test. So, I just picked up Brisket, and this just happened to be the camera test for the shoot.”
Interviewer Hoda asked,
“Wait, and that’s what they used?”
To which Glen Powell replied,
"That’s what they used. This was just me just joking around with Brisket. I just happened to have Brisket with me, and now he’s on the cover of Entertainment Weekly."
Brisket now looks to enter the entertainment industry by making a cameo in Chad Powers and Running Man.
