Jamie Foxx is currently busy promoting the upcoming docuseries Number One on The Call Sheet. The Oscar-winning actor has turned producer for the two-part documentary, which focuses on actors of color in Hollywood. During the Los Angeles premiere of the docuseries, Foxx talked about the criticism the Black Lives Matter movement has faced recently.

Number One on The Call Sheet, as the name suggests, talks about actors' journeys in showbiz and how they reached the first position on the call sheet. It focuses on Black excellence in the industry. Directed by Reginald Hudlin and Shala Lynch, the docuseries' first part focuses on black actors, while the second talks about black actresses.

Jamie Foxx has been fondly speaking about the docuseries, and during its premiere, he advocated for the Black Lives Matter movement. Talking to Entertainment Tonight, he compared how black people-led initiatives are criticized just like the movement. He said,

"When you look at Black Lives Matter being ripped up. I told somebody...[Black Lives Matter] is not about the organization. It was a moment in time that we all, all over the world, said ‘Wow, something bad happened.’"
"Then here we come with this, Number One on The Call Sheet, both Black men and Black women. And that was even questioned," he added.

He added that some also question why the documentary is about black excellence, to which he replied,

"To be honest with you, a few minutes ago we were against the law."

Jamie Foxx further added how bringing forward the stories of actors' careers would help the coming generations.

"The reason why we are saying it is because for that young black kid who has so many things going on, if you could look up and see these guys telling their positive stories on how they ascended in Hollywood and did some of your greatest movies and TV and film thing like that."

The Back In Action star gave a shoutout to Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, and others for coming up and talking about their journey to success.

Reports claim that support for the Black Lives Matter movement has dropped massively over the years. According to a Pew Research Center survey in 2023, only 51% of US adults admitted to supporting the BLM movement.

Jamie Foxx talks about his health scare

Besides the docuseries, Jamie Foxx also threw light on the day two years ago when he faced his near-death health struggle. Talking to People Magazine, he revealed how, before the health scare, followed by him going into a coma, he was talking to his team. His team then asked him if he wanted to "go over some papers just in case something happens?"

For the unversed, Foxx suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke. He was in a coma and did not wake up for weeks.

The incident took place when Foxx was shooting for his movie Back In Action in Atlanta in April 2023. The movie was released earlier this year and is currently streaming on Netflix. It also marks the comeback of Cameron Diaz.

Jamie Foxx is now focused on the upcoming docuseries Number One on The Call Sheet, set for its global premiere on March 28. It will be available to stream on Apple TV+ across the world.
