Keke Palmer has made headlines once again this week, this time for comparing her time with Disney to that with Nickelodeon. In an exclusive interview with The Toast, the child actress revealed that to her, working at Disney felt "really good." However, with Nickelodeon, it was virtually all about the money:

"Their paying was really awesome. [It was] kind of like 'Come in and get this check.' It wasn't about making it necessarily exciting."

Palmer had her breakout role in Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP. She also had stints on Disney’s Jump In!

Speaking on The Toast, hosted by Claudia & Jackie Oshry, she reflected on the start of her career at Disney channel:

"I’ll say Disney is really amazing when it comes to not only the storytelling that you see onscreen, but the storytelling even within the company, like they are storytelling through marketing, through their employees. People got pins in the office. They are literally a whole like universe, and I think that feels good, especially when you’re a little kid ’cause the magic doesn’t end. So, there’s an element of being a part of it that feels really, really fun.”

The 31-year-old actress continued, noting that Disney "has a way of making you want to be a part of it,” whereas with Nickelodeon it's about making money. Speaking about her time with its competitor, Nickelodeon, she said:

"The thing that put Keke Palmer on the map like boooom, was True Jackson, VP. My life was changed after that, honey."

She continued:

"One day, we were doing this big promotional thing about all the new shows that were coming to Nickelodeon. We had to get slimed. Obviously when you're filming things, you don't just film it once. You film it multiple times."

Keke Palmer explained that she was in her "weave era" at the time, as she went on:

"When I tell you that they slimed me, then they had to wash all of it out. I was under the dryer for hours, just to get slimed again? Oh honey, I hated that slime after that. It was too much."

Keke Palmer also gave a nod to Barbershop II and Akeelah and the Bee, noting that the two had a huge role in her breakthrough in the industry. Since her child acting days, Palmer has held roles in projects like Nope, Hustlers, Scream Queens, and Bosses, among others.

She also lent her voice to The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Lightyear, Big Mouth, Winx Club and more.
