The legendary actor Bill Murray recently appeared on an episode of the podcast.
The 74-year-old veteran actor, Bill Murray, was recently on Joe Rogan's podcast, and they had an amazing time, discussing several things, including movies, current affairs, and so on. However, one of the key moments in the podcast was Rogan and Murray discussing Hunter S. Thompson and the popular movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas starring Johnny Depp.
When Jamie Vernon, the producer of Rogan's podcast, pulled up a particular scene of Johnny Depp, from the above-mentioned movie, Bill Murray became a little emotional and cried. He said:
"It's a beautiful piece. It glistens your eyes to see it. Not just—,"
Then Murray added,
"Thinking of Hunter and the words he said, but seeing Johnny and how close Johnny and Hunter became and how much they loved each other and how much they shared with each other. It's a really beautiful piece, thank you."
Terry Gilliam's black comedy-adventure film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) is based on Hunter S. Thompson's novel of the same title. Depp played the lead role of Raoul Duke, which was based on Thompson. Interestingly, Bill Murray was the first actor to portray Hunter S. Thompson on screen, in the movie Where The Buffalo Roam, which was released in 1980. And during the podcast, he was reminded of the film.
For those of you who don't know, Hunter S. Thompson, he was considered the father of Gonzo Journalism. It can be described as a special type of reporting where the journalist becomes the key figure in a specific story, generally using a first-person account.
During the episode, they both seemed quite interested in Thompson and the work he did. They also talked about the current political scenario in America.
