BBC's Look East weather presenter, Julie Reinger, is set to bid farewell to the show after 30 years on the network.

In a statement on the BBC website published on March 27, Reinger confirmed her departure, saying,

"It hasn't been an easy decision to leave my Look East and local radio family, but it feels like this is the right time to go. It has been a privilege to bring our viewers and listeners to their local forecast for so many years. Come rain or shine, we've shared lots of fun and laughter along the way."

Reinger joined the BBC as a newsroom assistant in 1992 and took on many different roles at BBC Radio Nottingham before joining as a weather presenter in 1999. Reinger took over from Ivor Moores.

In the emotional goodbye, Julie Reinger looked back at her early days at the Broadcast channel and how things were so different back then. She mentioned having weather maps as compared to having computer-animated graphics of today, and using a weather clicker.

Julie Reinger also expressed her gratitude for her role and said some of her favorite parts of the job included living in a picturesque location,

"I feel very blessed to have been able to work in such a beautiful part of the country and to have such a special connection with those who live here. I'm always touched when people feel they can just come up and talk to me in the street or supermarket, like I'm an old friend that has always meant so much to me."
