Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, in a conversation with People, opened up about meeting the legendary actress Anjelica Huston. The veteran actress, along with Matthew Rhys, stars in the new BBC One mystery TV series Towards Zero, which is based on the 1944 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. Matthew stated in the interview that, as thrilled as he was to be working with Huston, he was also intimidated by her.
The Brothers and Sisters actor, regarding working with the Academy Award-winning actress Anjelica Huston, said:
"I was nervous because those kind of Hollywood dynasties don't come around very often. In fact, I believe [the Hustons are] the only family to have three generations of Oscar winners. Working with that caliber, you're always concerned as to whether you'll be able to hit the ball across a net in a way that they expect. I also grew up with her father [John's] films and her films. It's always intimidating meeting big stars."
Matthew Rhys garnered mass recognition for his role as Kevin Walker in the 2006 family drama TV show, Brothers and Sisters. The 50-year-old actor's other notable roles include the character of Philip Jennings in Joe Weisberg's spy drama series, The Americans.
Rhys, who shares a relationship with actress Keri Russell, in the interview, talked about watching Anjelica Huston's 1990 fantasy comedy-horror film The Witches, which he saw with his son Sam, who is 8. Matthew added:
"I watched it and was like, 'Christ, she's so good in this."
Rhys further talked about how he wanted to take a picture with Huston so that he could show it to his son, who was in New York at the time, as the production took place in England, but he couldn't manage to ask her. The actor said:
"I was too shy to go, 'Look, I'm as much of a fan as my son, but it would really blow my son's mind if I could have a picture with you.' She's a rare person I'd ever want to have a picture with, but then I couldn't bring myself to ask."
Matthew Rhys praises Anjelica Huston after working with her for the first time

It was Matthew Rhys' first time working with the Golden Globe-winning actress, Anjelica Huston, who is also the daughter of the legendary filmmaker John Huston. Rhys claimed that during the production of the BBC One TV series Towards Zero, which was released on March 2, 2025, Huston was as amazing as he thought she would be. Matthew further added:
"She clearly has mischief through her. She still has a great twinkle in her eye. I was a little bit shy and a little bit quiet around her, so I wasn't probing or joking in any way, and really, I only had a few scenes with her. I didn't have as many as some of the other cast, and I was a lot more envious of them. When I was around her, I just tried to be on my best behavior and not say anything stupid and embarrass myself."
