While Richie Sambora has not revealed the identity of his partner, he has confirmed that he's dating someone during a recent guest appearance on the April 2 episode of Billy Corgan's The Magnificent Others podcast. The American singer-songwriter mentioned that he has been dating the woman for more than two years now, saying:
"To fall (in love) at 63, with the wisdom...And she's also smart. And she's also healthy and beautiful and 60. It's a different way. It invigorates you very much. It's a very different way to fall in love."
He also went on to add,
"People say, 'Well, I wish I knew that back then when I was in high school.' Well guess what? I do know that."
The American singer-songwriter is best known for his role as the lead guitarist of the rock band Bon Jovi from 1983 to 2013. Together with lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, Sambora initially formed the main songwriting unit of the band.
Sambora was previously married to Heather Locklear from 1997 to 2007, with whom he shares a daughter, Ava, 27. After separating from Locklear, Sambora went on to date guitarist Orianthi from 2014 to 2018, and the pair released an album together.
Richie Sambora is unhappy with his portrayal on Hulu's Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story
Elsewhere in the podcast, Richie Sambora mentioned that he was unhappy with his portrayal in Hulu's Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, a docuseries on the band's history.
Sambora left the band in 2013 after spending 30 years as the lead guitarist. He explained:
"Look, I was out of the band at that point for 12 years. I was actually doing a songwriting clinic at Abbey Road with these young songwriters and stuff like that, and they said, 'Would you sit for a half hour?' And I said, 'All right. You guys get going on that.' And I walked into another studio, got a little makeup. And I didn't even know what the premise of this thing was."
He then went on to add,
"I hadn't been in the band for - it seemed like a lifetime at that point, 13 years or something. So I was trying to be funny, and the questions that were coming at me were unintelligent and did not demand any dept of answer."
In April 2024, a source close to Richie Sambora told People that "he didn't like the way he was being cast" in the documentary and disagrees with "how they framed his departure from the band."
