Marc Platt is a famous Hollywood producer of blockbuster films including La La Land, Wicked and Disney’s live-action Snow White (2025). But recently he made news not only for his work but also for a controversy involving Rachel Zegler.

He allegedly flew to New York City to have a talk with the Snow White star Rachel Zegler about a controversial social comment she had made in the month of August 2024.

Outside of his work, Marc is also known to many as the father of the Tony and Grammy-winning actor Ben Platt. Marc Platt was born and raised in a Conservative Jewish family and is now married to Julie Platt, a well-known Jewish philanthropist. They are the parents of five children, including Ben Platt, the Tony-winning star of Dear Evan Hansen.

Ben has talked about growing up in a “very Jewish, very musical” household and performing together with his siblings as the “Von Platt Family Singers.” He was 12 when he came out as gay, with his parents being entirely supportive.

But despite his famous father, Ben Platt has had to strive to forge a path of his own, though he recognizes the privilege of industry connections. Talking about his father's influence, Ben once stated:

"We’ve done as best a job as we can making it clear that I’m earning what I’m earning because of me, and not because of who my father is,"

On the other hand, Marc Platt has openly praised and appreciated his son’s success and talked about how his son was different from other kids from a very young age.

"Most kids, when they’re young, want computer games and Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles. Ben always wanted a clip-on microphone, so he could perform in the backyard, and one year he wanted a fog machine." Marc told The New York Times in 2016.
