Julia Garner, who is married to musician Mark Foster, who is not in any way related to acclaimed music producer David Foster, made her debut as Silver Surfer in the trailer, released on Thursday, for her upcoming film, Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Mark Foster and Julia Garner met back in 2013, during the Sundance Film Festival, but it was not until a few years later that the couple started dating and eventually got engaged in 2019. Both of them have achieved considerable success in their respective careers, and the new trailer for Julia Garner's movie Fantastic Four: First Steps is certainly a nod in that direction as the Emmy-winning actress dons her new avatar.

Mark Foster was born on 29 February 1984 in Milpitas, but later grew up in a small town outside Cleveland. Interestingly, Julia Garner, although she grew up in New York, would often travel to the same town to visit her grandmother. In a 2020 interview with Vogue, Inventing Anna actress said that they realized this during their first encounter back in 2013.

"We realized that my grandmother lived in the same small town that his dad lives in, just outside of Cleveland. [We would see] each other in Cleveland at Christmas time, year after year.”

In a 2018 interview with Script Type Publishing, Mark Foster revealed that he struggled to fit in among his peers at school, and this is when music helped him.

"I would say that a lot of those school years were really tough for me, moving around a lot and switching schools. At that time, music became something that was a constant and an escape."

In the same interview, the Imagination singer confessed that he struggled after moving to Los Angeles at eighteen years of age to pursue a music career. But it was his difficult school years that had prepared him for the tough times ahead.

"I had to learn how to survive, and I think it equipped me when I moved to Los Angeles to be able to face rejection, to live off nothing. For eight years, I just scraped by as a starving artist delivering pizzas, sleeping on couches, sleeping in my car and all of those things."

Mark Foster, who is the lead singer of the Indie pop group Foster the People, formed the band in 2009, along with drummer Mark Pontius. Their first single, "Pumped Up Kicks", went viral. It debuted at No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and also landed them a record deal.

The group later achieved further success when "Pumped Up Kicks," which was written by Mark Foster when he was working as a commercial jingle writer, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Their debut album Torches was also nominated for Best Alternative Debut Album in 2012.

In his interview with Script Type Publishing, Mark Foster revealed that it was a conversation with his father that pushed him to pursue music as a career.

"When I was a kid, I loved music, but I never in a million years considered pursuing a career, because I didn’t think it was possible. The only reason I ended up moving to Los Angeles and actually having any kind of courage to try it was having a conversation with my dad, where he empowered me."

Foster The People was also nominated in 2013 for Best Short Form Music Video for their single, "Houdini." In an interview with Interview Magazine, "Sit Next To Me" singer talked about how quickly his life changed after "Pumped Up Kicks" was released.

"When I wasn’t composing for commercials, I would write. Four months later, I started the band, and eight months later, we were signed. I went from one of the lowest places that I have been in my life and within a year was in the best place I’ve ever been.”

Mark Foster got engaged to Julia Garner in 2019. The Ozark actress, in her 2020 interview with Vogue, revealed how the "Helena Beat" singer had proposed to her.

"He read me a poem he had written to me, and when he finished, he dropped to a knee and asked me to marry him. It was surreal and beautiful.”

Mark Foster and Julia Garner got married in 2020 at New York City Hall, ditching a grand wedding ceremony.
