Shock jock turned political commentator Howard Stern is poised to sit down for an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT on Sirius XM. He announced the news on Instagram, prompting many to learn more about his political inclinations.
While Howard Stern has never explicitly proclaimed himself to be a Democrat, his views lean toward the left. He was once a good friend of former president Donald Trump, but has since "gone woke," as the Republican presidential nominee put it in September 2024. He then became a vocal critic of his former companion during his presidency and an ardent supporter of incumbent President Joe Biden.
Howard Stern says the Republican Party is run by a bunch of "wackos," Trump shoots back
In a March 2022 episode of the Howard Stern Show, the titular host dubbed the Republican Party "wackos."
"I miss the old Republican Party. It used to be nice to have a two-party system. Now it’s wackos versus Democrats."
He continued, expressing his support for Biden, who's "not a good president," he's "a great president." According to him, Biden handled the Russia-Ukraine crisis in "a smart fashion — as smart as he can with something as stupid as this."
He declared,
"Ever since Trump won the Republican nomination, the whole Republican Party’s gone bonkers.”
During an episode on Fox News' Gutfield! in September 2024, Trump put the shock jockey on blast.
"I was on Howard Stern’s show as much as anybody. He was great at that time, and then he went woke. And since he’s gone woke, his ratings have gone down the tubes. And he sort of went anti-Trump for a couple of reasons."
Stern took the former president's comments in stride. He said, during a following episode of his show that he took the pointers as "a compliment, that" he's "woke."
"To me, the opposite of woke is being asleep. And if woke means I can’t get behind [Trump], which is what I think it means, or that I support people who want to be transgender, or I’m for the vaccine — dude, call me woke as you f‑‑‑ing want."
During a surprise interview with Joe Biden on his show in April 2024, Howard Stern, who attempted to dissuade the former President from trying his hand at just that, said,
"It was a difficult thing because there’s a part of me that really likes Donald, but I just don’t agree politically. A more self-serving person would have gone all in on Donald because I’d probably be the F.C.C. commissioner or a Supreme Court justice by now.”
Howard Stern made his announcement on October 6, 2024. The post has since garnered almost 50,000 likes and over 10,000 comments.
