As per latest reports, Scream franchise star Mason Gooding will return to the big screen in Scream 7. The news comes in fresh after the film witnessed multiple cast shake-ups and production delays, leading to newcomers joining the team.
Even though there is no confirmation on whether a deal has been signed by Gooding for his role, but as per sources he will play the part of Chad Meeks-Martin in the seventh installment of the slasher saga. Moreover, Jasmin Savoy Brown, who was cast as Chad's sister Mindy in the previous two movies has not officially signed a deal yet for Scream 7.
Is franchise star Mason Gooding returning to the cast of Scream 7?
As we have Gooding on board, he will be the first star from the Scream franchise 'core four' reprising a role. After Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega's exit, there has been a lot of social media tumult on what will be the fate of the 'Carpenter sisters' (Sam and Tara).
However, Gooding's return to the set has taken some heat off this raging topic and now we will see him play the part of Chad Meeks-Martin. Earlier this year, Gooding mentioned in a statement, saying:
"If it could make money, I guarantee, they’re making it. It’s all about keeping up with what feels like is the best movie for the fans. ‘Scream’ doesn’t exist without the people who enjoy is as much as they do. … If people want it, they will certainly try their best to see it happen."
Spyglass Entertainment and Paramount Pictures are now working together with new director Kevin Williamson (creator of the original Scream in 1996) after Christopher Landon stepped down. Mason Gooding will join the cast alongside lead star Neve Campbell who will reportedly play the iconic Sydney Prescott.
Who else is on the cast of Scream 7?
F.R.I.E.N.D.S star Courtney Cox is set to reprise her role as Gale Weathers though she has not been officially signed on yet. Newcomers in the cast include Isabel May who will play the part of Sydney Prescott's daughter. Among others, we have McKenna Grace, Asa Germann, and Sam Rechner (who also recently joined the Scream 7 team).
Scream 7 is set to have a theatrical release on February 27, 2026, as Paramount Pictures takes up the distribution rights. The long-running slasher horror franchise has been a box-office hit since its inception in 1996 with Scream 6 (2023) grossing over $169 million globally.
