No, Disney is not making a live-action Goofy movie.

A Facebook official page by the name of Qbanguy posted an AI-generated poster featuring the main character, Max, alongside his crush, Roxanne, from the 1995 animated film, A Goofy Film. The poster includes the alleged title of the film, with a potential release date of Summer 2026, with the caption mentioning,

"Disney can be saved!!"

However, it is important to note that Disney has not confirmed the news, and the report is fake since the same Facebook account is notorious for sharing similar posters of potential sequals and live-action remakes of popular films.

The 1995 movie features Goofy, who takes his teenage son, Max, on a cross-country fishing trip, to bond with him. However, Goofy is unaware that Max is trying to ditch the trip to impress his crush, Roxanne. The movie became a fan favorite for its catchy songs like Eye to Eye and Stand Out, and its slapstick humor.

Disney has released a new feature-length documentary on the making of A Goofy Movie

Disney recently released a new feature-length documentary, Not Just A Goofy, which documents the making of the 1995 animated film, A Goofy Movie.

The movie is available to stream on Disney+ and is directed by Eric Kimelton and Christopher Ninness. While speaking to People, A Goofy Movie director Kevin Lima opened up about the project saying,

"I was a first-time director. I had a first time head of story. I had a first-time lead editor. I thought we had the opportunity to make a John Hughes movie in animation."

He shared that with the 1995 movie, he wanted to make something that was not contemporary Disney with "talking animal movies" and "fairy tales":

"Let's make a movie that's about contemporary teenagers as opposted to what featute animation was doing, which was all talking animal movies and fairy tales. Even though these are kind of talking animal movies."

Lima then recalled the time when Walt Disney Studios ex-chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg talked about an upcoming trip he was planning with his daughter, since he struggled connecting with her, and noted that's where the idea for the plot stemmed from.

When the movie debuted on April 7, 1995, it grossed $37,6 million against its $18 million in production costs.

The cast members of the film also appeared together to celebrate the movie's 30th anniversary in a video titled On The Road Again: A Goofy Movie 30th Anniversary.

In the video, the cast members recalled moments from when the film was being made.
