Barstool Sports founder and BFF's podcast co-host Dave Portnoy might be leaving the podcast for good.
During a November 7 episode of the show, Dave revealed that his initial plan was to leave the podcast at the end of 2024 as he was "getting older" and "talking about teenage drama (is) a little out of my wheelhouse now." Dave said that the hosts knew about his plans for months, and were considering the "best way to announce it."
On the November 14, episode of The Unnamed Show, his other podcast with Kirk Minihane and Ryan Whitney, Dave confirmed the decision to leave, saying:
"The subjects don't interest me at all. They show me the topics when I go in there, I haven't done any research, and I'm just ripping apart 18-year olds, who I don't even know. I don't love necessarily doing that."
Dave Portnoy launched the BFFs podcast with Josh in 2020 and Brianna Chickenfry later joined as a co-host. He also added that he feels he's outgrown the podcast,
"It certainly acomplished what I wanted to accomplish when we started it. Josh and Bri will continue it. It's super succesful, but year, it's time for me to try the next thing. I had run my course with it."
Dave Portnoy talks about his earlier change of plans following Brianna Chickenfry's breakup
Although Dave Portnoy "always" knew that he was going to exit the pod by the end of 2024, he delayed his decision after Brianna Chickenfry's breakup with Zach Bryan.
Brianna accused the Grammy winner of emotional abuse and opened up about their relationship on November 7's episode of the podcast. She alleged that Bryan had offered her $12 million to sign an NDA regarding their relationship, which she ultimately turned down to share her story on the podcast.
While speaking about Brianna's story, Dave said that earlier he was on board about not bringing it up in the podcast, but then changed his mind.
"I thought I was gonna get on and be like, 'Hey, I respect their decision, we're not gonna talk about the Zach thing. But I can't be on it anymore because I have to talk about it if we're gonna do it. And I woke up the next morning, and it's like, 'F**k the money, we're going."

Brianna and Zach began dating in July 2023 and reportedly broke up in October 2024 after a year of dating.
