50 Cent and Eminem have been together for over two decades now. Although 50 Cent is no longer signed to Eminem's label, Shady Records, there have been speculations recently regarding a second collab between the two artists.
Get Rich or Die Tryinβ, 50 Centβs 2003 album, was an instant hit. Executive produced by Eminem and Dr. Dre, the album included hits like βIn Da Clubβ and β21 Questions.β The album was Number 1 on the Billboard 200 within a week.
Eminem has featured on a number of tracks alongside 50, including βPatiently Waitingβ and βDonβt Push Me.β However, his time with Shady/Aftermath Records ended in 2014 when he decided to take the independent path, as reported by Unilad.
He announced his departure from Shady Records in order to have more creative freedom over his music, as he said in an interview with Forbes.
βItβs freedom to invest in your own ideas. If ever I had a horse that I was betting on at the track, Iβd like to be the horse. Let it be me, goddammit, because Iβm going to run as hard as I can.β
Eminem responded to 50βs departure by stating:
βIβve developed a great friendship with 50 over the years, and thatβs not going to change. We know 50 will have success in his new situation, and we remain supporters of both him and G-Unit.β
Though 50 Cent is no longer working under Shady Records, Eminemβs recent Sirius XM Whooβs House podcast interview reveals that the 8 Mile actor wants to collaborate with 50 soon.
50 Centβs early struggles and rise to stardom alongside Eminem
In 2002, Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, was making his way through the hip-hop industry. Overcoming many setbacks, including being dropped by Columbia Records in the wake of being shot, Eminem took interest in 50.
Eminem, then known as Slim Shady, was already an overwhelming presence in the music business. After listening to 50βs mixtape Guess Whoβs Back?, Slim Shady was supposedly impressed and wanted to work with him (Cheat Sheet).
Eminem said in an interview that he had become a fan of 50βs music the minute he heard it and loved the beats. Later, he introduced 50 to Dr. Dre, who, in turn, signed him to Shady/Aftermath Records in a deal reportedly worth $1 million.
In 2022, Eminem reportedly insisted that he would only perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show if his longtime friend, 50 Cent, was included in the ceremony. In response, 50 has included Eminem in his projects, such as the TV series BMF.
