The Sundance Grandy Jury Prize winner In The Summers (starring René Pérez Joglar, Sasha Calle, and Lio Mehiel) was released on Hulu on February 5, 2025. Besides this, the movie is also available in select theatres on various continents. Per Variety, helmer Alessandra Lacorazza reportedly mentioned in a statement:

"I’m thrilled that In the Summers will find a home at Hulu. It’s the perfect place for the film to reach a wider audience."

The story revolves around a father (Vicente - played by the Puerto Rican rapper René Pérez Joglar, aka Residente) and his two daughters, Eva and Violeta (played by Sasha Calle and Lio Mehiel, respectively). Every summer, the two siblings visit their father in New Mexico, all the way from California, where they stay with their mother.

Though the girls initially share a good bond with Vicente, over the years, they evolve as human beings while navigating through adolescence. Eva and Violeta eventually realize that their father is no longer emotionally attached to them like before.

Moreover, his intensifying drinking problem bothers them. Things keep changing and get worse with each passing year until the two siblings themselves become emotionally unavailable for their father following unprecedented family complications.
