The award night at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena was magical for Kendrick Lamar, as he bagged five Grammys. K. Dot also scripted history, as all five accolades were won by his diss track, Not Like Us.
One of the awards was Record of the Year, which even got the whole arena to sing along with Lamar’s “A-Minor” bar as the rapper walked up to the stage. Lamar accepted the Grammy and paid his respects to his late aunt, who passed away a day before the ceremony. K.Dot said,
“First and foremost, all praise to the most high. We woke up this morning. Rest in paradise my auntie Sharon. She transitioned yesterday, so this is special, you know. She probably, you know, watching it from up there, so make sure y’all got your smiles on right, you know, make her feel good.”
Kendrick Lamar also gave shoutouts to Dr. Dre and Swizz Beatz, who were in the crowd cheering for him. Lamar further dedicated the award to the city of Los Angeles and named various neighborhoods across the county.
However, the sight of the entire arena yelling out “A-Minor” mainly got reactions from many on X. With the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in mind, where Kendrick Lamar will be the headline performer, a user wrote,
“Imagine what the super bowl’s gonna be like LMFAOOOOO.”

You know, this is my neck of the woods that held me down since I was a young pup, you know, since I was in the studio scraping to write the best raps and all that, you know, in order to do records like these.”
K.Dot further added,
“I can’t give enough thanks to these places that I rode around since high school. Most importantly, the people and the families out in the Palisades and Altadena, this is a true testament that we can continue to restore this city.”
Apart from winning Record of the Year, Not Like Us won Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video. After winning five honors, Not Like Us became the most decorated rap song in Grammy Awards history.
At the same time, Kendrick Lamar also became the second rapper to win Record of the Year and Song of the Year. On a previous occasion, the feat was achieved by Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, in 2019.
