Netflix has released the official trailer for iHostage, an upcoming Dutch thriller film, which is based on a true story. The movie revolves around a hostage situation that occurred in Amsterdam, Netherlands when an armed man entered an Apple Store and threatened the store employees and customers.

The incident happened in 2022, and the man kept people hostage in the store for hours while asking for cryptocurrency as a ransom from the police. The film is told from various perspectives, including those of the intruder, the victims, and the police officers.

The trailer showcases tension growing as an armed man enters an Apple Store with a gun, leading to a frantic operation by the authorities. The film is all set to premiere on Netflix on April 18, 2025.

Netflix unveiled the trailer for iHostage on March 20, 2025. The footage shows an armed man announcing ‘the day has come’ and entering an Apple Store with a gun. As he tells everyone to get down, some people run and hide in the warehouse.

Meanwhile, an innocent Bulgarian man becomes the attacker’s target and the police get into action. From land to air, the authorities circle around the store to take down the attacker and keep the hostages safe. At the same time, the assailant gets into a cat-and-mouse game with the police, asking for money in exchange for the hostages' safety.

The incident actually took place in Amsterdam on February 22, 2022. At the time, the armed man asked for €200 million in cryptocurrencies from the police. Whether he succeeded or not, will be likely showcased in iHostage.

The film is set to be released globally on Netflix on April 18, 2025. Netflix has described it as an emotional and tense story that explores the themes of survival, bravery, and the trauma that comes with terror. The official synopsis of the movie reads:

“iHostage is a gripping thriller inspired by the shocking 2022 hostage crisis at Amsterdam's Apple Store. The film follows a Bulgarian man caught in a life-threatening ordeal as an armed assailant holds the building's occupants hostage.”

Directed by Bobby Boermans, the film stars Admir Šehović, Soufiane Moussouli, Marcel Hensema, Fockeline Ouwerkerk, Loes Haverkort, Emmanuel Ohene Boafo, and Matteo van der Grijn in pivotal roles.

The cast also includes Thijs Boermans, Roosmarijn van der Hoek, Everon Jackson Hooi, Roosmarijn van der Hoek, Jolanda van den Berg, Robin Boissevain, Louis Talpe, Zahra Lfil, and Ahlmaam Teghadouini.
