Actor Colin Farrell was not a fan of wearing the Penguin costume for the upcoming HBO series, which premieres on September 19 at 9 p.m. on HBO.

While speaking to Total Film about whether he would be up for The Penguin season 2, Farrell opened up about the discomfort he felt while getting into the makeup and prosthetics for the getup:

"I don't know, man. Don't get me wrong - I loved it - but it got in on me a little bit. By the end of it, I was b***hing and moaning to anyone who would listen to me that I f***ing wanted it to be finished. I tried to remind them that I had a "grumpy gratitude."

Farrell said he was "still grateful and still honored" since he grew up watching Burgess Meredith, and Danny DeVito was "my Penguin." Colin Farrell mentioned that he felt privileged to be "a part of the lineage of that storytelling," but the getup was uncomfortable nonetheless.

"It's not like I didn't know who I was and I was going out and burning cars and shit, but if you take what Matt Reeves created and then what Lauren (Le Franc) did and what Mike (Marino, prosthetics and make-up designer) did and put them all together, it was a really powerful experience."

"I never want to put that f**king suit and that f**king head on again." - says Colin Farrell about his Penguin costume

While speaking to Total Film, Colin Farrell revealed that Penguin series creator Lauren LeFranc had asked him if he would want to play Penguin again if there was a way "that makes sense." Farrell replied that although he could consider it, it wouldn't be anytime soon:

"Lauren said, 'Look, If I could find a way that makes sense, would you talk about it? And I said, 'Absolutely.' And maybe in a year I would. But when I finished I was like, 'I never want to put that f**king suit and that f**king head on again."

The Penguin is an upcoming crime drama series by Lauren LeFranc for HBO. It is based on the DC Comics character Penguin and is a spin-off from the movie The Batman (2022). The series explores Penguin's rise to power in Gotham City's criminal underworld. Colin Farrell plays Penguin, alongside Cristin Milioti and Rhenzy Feliz. As per Colin, the show is "incredibly violent" and "really twisted."

Farrell earlier played Penguin opposite Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight in The Batman.
