“I have tons of fears of being perceived on camera” — Sza speaks about her acting debut in ‘One of Them Days’ starring Keke Palmer

In a new interview with People published on January 14, 2025, ahead of the release of One of Them Days, Sza opened up about her acting debut.

Solána Imani Rowe, known as Sza, has established herself as a proud singer, who will be making her film debut with One of Them Days. In the interview alongside Keke Palmer, the singer mentioned that she is "scared as hell" for the film to come out:

"I'm trying something brand new. All I can do is try my best, you know, and thank God for the opportunity and just kinda lean onto and accept it as a growing experience. I have tons of fears of being perceived on camera, talking, my voice, being next to Keke, who's a superstar of so many multitudes."

Directed by Lawrence Lamont, One of Them Days is a buddy comedy film featuring Rowe as Alyssa and Palmer as Dreux, two friends trying to make it work after Dreux's boyfriend makes a run with their rent money. The movie is all set to hit the theaters on January 17, 2025.


"The world is about to be just gagged" - Keke Palmer praises SZA

During their joint interview with People, One of Them Days star, Keke Palmer and SZA opened up about their friendship, which developed while working on the sets of the movie.

Palmer in the interview mentioned that the two first interacted over Instagram DMs and had a "simple" conversation about "girl stuff," before they first crossed paths in December 2022, when SZA served as the musical guest on an episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Palmer. While praising Rowe for her role as Alyssa in the film, Palmer said:

"The world is about to be just gagged. Honestly, it's so, so good. I really am just so proud of you and the movie. It's all, to me, a match made in heaven."

She added:

"(SZA) freaking killed it. Watching (SZA) show up and be present and wanting to do the best job possible - and actually doing it - it just made sense and it all fit together."

Rowe mentioned that she felt Palmer was "larger-than-life, unreal and impossible" but when she first met her at SNL she felt "so real, possible and present." While describing, Keke Palmer, SZA added:

"So funny and enigmatic. Within three seconds of talking to her I was like, 'Oh, s***t!' I loved it. I wanted more."

The singer called her experience of working on set with Palmer a "crash course", "a speed date but very intense" which happens every day including 12 hours of "real-life conversation."
