What happened between Kendrick Lamar and Drake?
The feud between the two artists started in 2013 when during a verse on Big Sean's Control, Kendrick took names of a bunch of rappers including Drake and lyrically emphasized that he wants to "murder" the competition, establishing himself as a dominant force in the rap world.
Although Drake didn't directly jump on the wagon after the track came out, the artist made subtle jabs against Lamar in interviews. He disagreed with Kendrick's verse and noted that he was in a different league than the rappers Kendrick Lamar mentioned in the track. During a 2013 Billboard interview, Drake said,
"It just wasn’t real to me… I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform.”
Both the artists took subtle jabs at each other through their music and in 2013, Kendrick Lamar while rapping on stage at the BET Hip-Hop Awards rapped,
"And nothing’s been the same since they dropped ‘Control’ and tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes."
Although both the artists haven't publicly confirmed the beef, they have acknowledged the tensions between them in their songs.
