While speaking to People at the New York City premiere of his upcoming movie The Amateur, Holt McCallany praised co-star Tom Cruise and predicted that the next Mission Impossible movie would be "very successful."

"Well, I haven't seen Mission:Impossible (The Final Reckoning) yet, but, I've seen all of the preceding films and it's a great franchise."

He then went on to praise writer Christopher McQuarrie and co-star Tom Cruise, saying,

"Christopher McQuarrie is a wonderful guy, a great writer, a great director, and really a great human being, you know, so it was a privilege to work for Chris McQ, we call him McQ. Tom is the biggest movie star in the world, and there's a reason for that."

He added that he's very happy to be a part of the project and predicted its success,

"So I was really happy to be a part of that project, and I think it's going to be very succesful, especially to be a part of what's going to be the last installment of the franchise."

McCallany is best known for his role as FBI Agent Bill Trench in the Netflix series Mindhunter and gained recognition for his roles in Fight Club, Alien 3, and CSI: Miami, Heroes, and Lights Out. McCallany is all set to star in the new Netflix family drama series The Waterfront.

The next installment of the franchise, Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, is scheduled to hit the theaters on May 23, 2025, with a star-studded cast including Tom Cruise, Holt McCallany, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and Hayley Atwell, among others.

Tom Cruise confirms that Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning will be the last movie

During a joint interview with Empire Magazine in February, Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie were asked if Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning would be the last film in the franchise, which began in 1996.

Tom Cruise, while confirming the rumor, noted,

"It is, I hope, the satisfying conclusion to a 30-year story arc. I'm pretty confident that people are going to feel that the title was appropriate."

Cruise then went on to add,

"It's a hard thing for me to discuss at the moment because it really is something that you have to experience."

The previous film, Dead Reckoning Part One, ended on a cliffhanger with Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt, needing to find a long-lost stealth submarine.

Mission Impossible fans predicted that if Ethan Hunt meets his end in the Final Reckoning, then the franchise could continue without him or Cruise.
