In the wake of his ongoing tumult on X, Kanye West managed to remain at the forefront of social media discussions even at the Super Bowl.
Though not in attendance, the polarizing star paid for a commercial ad space during the broadcast of America’s Game, in a truly bizarre call to action for his fans to visit his website and buy his merch. West was seen lying in the dentist’s chair, filming the clip with the front-facing camera of an iPhone. He was wearing sunglasses and showing off his new diamond-encrusted teeth.
“I spent like all the money for the commercial on these new teeth, Once again I had to shoot it on the iPhone. Um… Um… Go to Yeezy.com."
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the ad appears to have been a local buy and did not air nationally. The ad said it was “paid for by Yeezy LLC” and it also aired on Fox later Sunday night nearly two hours after the game ended.
Kanye deactivates X
Shortly before the commercial dropped during the game, Yeezy went to X to hint that he felt his voice was being hindered on the platform.
“MY TWITTER REACH HAS BEEN LIMITED SO I AM NOT ALLOWED TO TREND DOING SUPER BOWL I AM SETTING UP A DISCORD CHANEL ON MY WEBSITE WELCOME TO AMERICA”
Shortly thereafter, Ye deactivated his X account. His representatives from Tarantula, a talent management and consulting firm, then posted,
“Ye has deactivated his X account for the time being. Journalists with requests for comment about this or any other matter pertaining to Ye may direct them to my firm at [email protected].”
Before leaving X, Ye took to the platform a final time in what marked another dark, and seemingly irredeemable turn. In response to the Diddy allegations, as well as the feud between Drake and Kendrick, Ye asserted that he has had a history of being an abuser, with the specific instances being left to speculation.
“Let me start by saying I have hit women before. Drake said Kendrick hit his girl. But that is not recorded on tape like the Puff video. I am in L.A. right now at the Four Seasons. I am risking my life to tweet this. So walk with me. Drake said Kendrick hit his Queen. The world sees Puff hit Cassie. Kendrick is at the Super Bowl. Puff is in jail.”
Ye then described “celebrities" across the board as “scared and selfish” to speak their minds in fear of being silenced, before his rant devolved into more of the hateful speech and terminology that got him to this point.
