Firerose opened up about her divorce from ex-husband Billy Ray Cyrus after their 7-month marriage. While speaking to Australia's Stellar Magazine, which was published on October 12, the singer said,
"We went to bed together, and when I woke up, he wasn't there. It wasn't abnormal for him to shut me out and give me the silent treatment, but it was very unusual for him to leave for a whole day. He didn't come home that night."

Firerose added that she was alone on the farm by herself with no security lights on and was "terrified" and "baffled" since Billy Ray Cyrus wasn't answering her calls or texts and he was aware that she had to be at the hospital the next day.
As per court filings, Cyrus filed for divorce one day before the singer was supposed to have a preventative double-mastectomy surgery."
In the interview, the singer shared more details about how the two met when she was 22 and he was 49, and said,
"But I couldn't have seen 10 years into the future. When I think about what I just went through, I would have told my 22-year old self to run in the opposite direction and never look back."

While talking to Stellar, Firerose mentioned that she was auditioning at a Hollywood studio when Billy Ray Cyrus' dog approached her and the two began talking. The two lost touch and eventually reconnected during the pandemic years and got into a relationship.
Cyrus filed an annulment of marriage in June citing irreconcilable differences and "inappropriate marital conduct" before officially separating in May 22, 2024, seven months after they tied the knot.
As per documents obtained by US Weekly, the singer received no cash settlement through the annulment, but Cyrus agreed to hand over song credits or royalties on projects they worked on together during the span of their relationship.
In June, Cyrus requested a temporary restraining order to keep the singer from accessing his money and claimed that she obtained nearly $97,000 on his credit cards between May 23 and June 7.
In the same month, in a new filing, the singer alleged that she was "victim to extreme verbal, emotional and psychological abuse" during her marriage and blamed Cyrus' "persistent drug use" and marijuana consumption, which made him "unpredictable and volatile."
The two have since made explosive comments against each other in interviews and social media posts.
