In a video posted on Instagram on March 20, British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs revealed the thought behind having Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter, North West feature on Childlike Things from her album Eusexua.

North sings the track's second verse and joins Twigs on the outro. The 11-year-old singer raps in Japanese, a language, she has been very interested in learning.

While doing her makeup, Twigs revealed in the video that she was in the studio when she found herself singing long-forgotten lyrics -

"I've got supersonic powers that are polyphonic/Like a chocolate teapot, melt 'em down and burn 'em up...."

The singer revealed that she composed these lyrics when she was a child and realized that she would need to collaborate with someone who could match and enhance the "childlike energy."

"It (needed) someone who has that tenacity, who has that strong point of view that you have when you're 11. Then I saw an interview with North West, and she was so confident.... It suddenly occurred to me that I would've loved to have a friend like North who could speak up for themselves."

The singer then decided that "it has to be North" and that "she has to put her point of view on the song." North's verse was in Japanese and about her faith which Twigs finds "really powerful."

Childlike Things was released on January 24, 2025.

"This is about a young child that has a point of view" - says FKA Twigs about her song ft. North West

While speaking about how she felt collaborating with Kim and Ye's daughter North West for her track, Childlike Things, FKA Twigs revealed that she was impressed by West's views on faith and mentioned,

"When I listen to that verse, I just think this is about a young child that has a point of view, that has a very strong and unwavering point of view about what she believes in."

During an interview for Interview Magazine in October 2024, North West was asked what's the biggest lesson she's learned so far, to which the 11-year-old looked back at a family vacation where she taught her siblings how to pray,

"It was just us and my siblings, and that’s when I really brought them close to god, because we had this house and there was these devil statues, and I was like, “Mm-mm, mm-mm, no, girl.” I was like, “We got to pray.” So then I taught Chi and Psalm and Saint how to pray. God really did his thing after."

Later in her Instagram video, Twigs thanked North for making her song "come to life after so many years."
