Andrew Schulz is back in the news after responding to Kendrick Lamar’s perceived diss on rapper’s new album GNX. Schulz continues to defend his comments despite the backlash, claiming that the comments were taken out of context.

The friction between the two figures early on was prompted by the release of Lamar's GNX in November. On a track called Wacced Out Murals, Lamar rapped,

"Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that’s law."

Though Lamar did not mention Andrew Schulz by name, many fans believed he was referring to the comedian who has been criticized in the past for making jokes about Black women on his podcast Flagrant. Schulz immediately addressed the lyric in a podcast episode, and defended his previous comments.

Schulz immediately addressed the lyric in a podcast episode, and defended his previous comments. The comedian said Lamar was calling out comedians while collaborating with artists like R. Kelly who have been accused of abuse.

What made the situation ugly was Andrew Schulz’s comment while answering, which many people took as a joke about sexual assault, he said:

"But if it came down to it, I could put him on my lap, feed him a bottle, and make love to him if I wanted to."

This comment triggered instant outrage, with many critics saying it went over the line. But according to Schulz, his statement was meant to be funny.

More about Andrew Schulz’s recent response to the controversy and public backlash

Despite the backlash, Andrew Schulz stressed that the comment was taken out of context. During an interview that he recently gave to Power 106, he tried to clear things up by saying:

"People turned it into something it wasn’t. I said I would make sweet love—whether he liked it or not—but I also said he could decide. And obviously, I’m joking. I’m married, I’m faithful. I make sweet, disappointing love to one person—my wife."

The explanation did not do much to settle the tension. One of Schulz’s critics was O’Shea Jackson Jr., son of hip-hop legend Ice Cube. Jackson used social media to vent his displeasure, calling Schulz a "weirdo."

During his recent interview with The Morning Hustle, O’Shea Jackson Jr. stated his disapproval, he said:

"I don't know why my statement had so much weight to it... Three words and a period. It was a weird thing to say."

On the other hand, the hip hop veteran Tony Yayo stated that he likes Andrew Schulz as a comedian but did not like his response to Kendrick Lamar. Yayo talked about the gang culture and stated how Schulz’s remarks could cause serious reactions from Lamar's camp.
