On a November 8 episode of actor Armie Hammer's Armie Hammer Time podcast, Hammer opened up about the strained relationship with his mother, Dru Hammer. The actor revealed that he has "very clear boundaries" with his mother and that he doesn't want her to talk to him "about God all the time."

Hammer revealed that his mother is religious, and as per the Christian Broadcasting Network, Dru was raised in a Christian home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While addressing his mother in the podcast, Hammer added that he didn't speak to her for a very long time since she wasn't able to speak to him without bringing up religion,

"And we actually had a period in our lives when we didn't talk at all because I said, "I don't need a pastor, I need a mom. And if you're unable to be a mom and only able to be a pastor, then I don't need that relationship in my life. I don't need another pastor.""

He added saying,

"And we didn't talk for a while, because you were just like, 'This is who I am.' And that's fine. Everybody is allowed to react to however they want when boundaries are presented."

Armie went on to tell his mom that he has no problem with her relationship with Christianity and that "everyone is entitled to their own spirituality."

"I brought up what I feel about our personal relationship" - says Armie Hammer to his mother

During the podcast, Armie Hammer opened up about his relationship with faith amidst his religious mother. The actor noted that he has a "thriving spiritual practice" where he starts every morning with meditation, prayer and a gratitude practice.

However, while addressing the space where the two have trouble seeing eye to eye, Armie revealed that his definition of spirituality "does not look exactly" like his mother's definition. The actor complained that Dru tries to "proselyrize" or "convert" or bring him "half a dozen of bibles" so that his "spirituality can look exactly" like his mother's. When Dru responded and started sharing her religious views, Armie interrupted asking her to get back to the original topic.

The actor said that he got his mother on the podcast to discuss their personal relationship, and she "went to talk about Christ" and reasoned that diverting conversations to talk about faith causes a "division" in their relationship. Dru responded saying that she was saying is what she believes she was "called to do" as a Christian and called herself an evangelist.
