Author Ashley St. Clair, the mother of Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s thirteenth child, has sold her Tesla car. In a video by Daily Mail, St. Clair can be seen finalizing the sale of her car outside what the news outlet reports is her Manhattan apartment. At the same time, St. Clair spoke to one of the reporters filming her about the reason for the sale.
St. Clair, who is described as a "conservative influencer" many multiple news outlets, shared in the Daily Mail video that she is being forced to sell her car to compensate for the child support reduction that the billionaire pays to her. She said,
“I’m selling it because I need to make up for the 60% cut that Elon made to our son’s child support.”
When asked if she knew why Musk, who is also the Senior Advisor to the President of the United States, reduced his child support, St. Clair turned away and said that Musk would be better equipped to answer that question.
St. Clair was also asked if Musk’s actions were “vindictive” towards her. Responding, St. Clair said,
“Yeah, that’s his modus operandi when women speak out.”
As per Ashley St. Clair, Musk has also cut off all communication with her, and the two last spoke on February 13.
St. Clair also referred to Tesla in her conversation with the Daily Mail reporter, saying,
“You can check the stocks, I’m not the only one who is cleaning up after his messes.”
Later on, the car was seen being loaded onto the back of a truck in the Daily Mail video.
Elon Musk and Ashley St. Clair are currently engaged in a conflict over their son
Ashley St. Clair and Elon Musk reportedly began a relationship when the two met in connection with Babylon Bee, a satirical news outlet, in 2023, per the New York Post. As per another report by the New York Post, St. Clair and Musk had numerous exchanges on X as well.
Ashley St. Clair, who is the author of a children's book, Elephants Are Not Birds, revealed in February 2025 that she had given birth to her and Elon Musk’s child five months ago. Taking to X, St. Clair wrote,
“Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father. I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child's privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.”

She also went on to request privacy for the child. St. Clair is also a mother to a three-year-old child from a previous relationship, as per Daily Mail.
A few days later, People Magazine reported that Ashley St. Clair had filed for sole custody of her and Musk’s son in the New York Supreme Court. While she provided proof of Musk’s paternity, St. Clair also filed for a paternity petition, as per the report.
In March, St. Clair’s legal team gave a statement to People Magazine, alleging that Musk had cut down his financial support to St. Clair and his child. The statement claimed:
“Elon Musk has financially retaliated against his own child and reduced his financial support substantially and unilaterally. He did this after Ashley was forced to bring this matter to court, when he refused to respond to her many private attempts to resolve this matter without publicity.”
Further, the statement released to People Magazine alleged that Musk wanted to suppress St. Clair’s communications to the media and public. The statement read:
“At the same time, he filed an emergency application to gag Ashley and prevent her from communicating about his actions…Ashley is vigorously opposing this application in order to preserve her right to speak-out. All while Mr. Musk fashions himself a first amendment warrior and freely communicates via his owned social media platform.”
Elon Musk clarified his position in a recent post on X after Ashley St. Clair’s video selling her Tesla surfaced. He wrote,
"I don’t know if the child is mine or not, but am not against finding out. No court order is needed. Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500k/year.”
While revealing that it was Musk who named their son, St. Clair replied to Musk’s post, alleging that the billionaire reduced the child support payments in order to control her. She wrote on X,
“Elon, we asked you to confirm paternity through a test before our child (who you named) was even born. You refused. And you weren’t sending *me* money, you were sending support for your child that you thought was necessary… until you withdrew most of it to maintain control and punish me for “disobedience.” But you’re really only punishing your son.”
St. Clair referred to the "gag order" and continued,
"It’s ironic that your last effort in court was to try to gag me while you use a social media channel you literally own to distribute derogatory messages about me and our child to the entire world. It’s all about control with you, and everyone can see it.”
For now, it remains to be seen how the conflict between Elon Musk and Ashley St. Clair shapes up and whether or not the author proceeds with her custody lawsuit.
