Mickey Rourke attracted controversy after the comments he made towards JoJo Siwa in Celebrity Big Brother UK. He was criticized for making homophobic and problematic statements.
A video was shared by the British network ITV, where Rourke is heard making comments about Jojo Siwa, implying that he could change the 21-year-old performer’s sexuality.
Joelle Joanie Siwa also famously known as Jojo Siwa is an American dancer, singer and media personality. She performed as a dancer on two seasons of the reality television show Dance Moms alongside her mother, Jessalynn Siwa, from 2015 to 2016.
Jessalyn recently expressed her opinions in an Instagram video regarding the conversations and statements made by Mickey Rourke about her daughter, Jojo Siwa,
“I’m not surprised, honestly, I wasn’t surprised that he didn’t go home. I knew he wouldn’t. I’m really sad, though, that I sent my kid — and she is my kid [because] I am her mom and she is my kid — to a foreign country to do a TV show and she got treated like that right away, right out of the gate,”
Jessalyn, 50, shared.
Mickey Rourke received a formal warning for his language towards JoJo Siwa

Oscar-nominated star Mickey Rourke entered the reality show Celebrity Big Brother alongside Jojo Siwa and 11 other celebrities.
The media personality accused Rourke, 72, of being "homophobic" when she found out Rourke presented everyone with the explanation that he was planning to
" to vote the lesbian out real quick"
and making other other statements about her sexuality. As a result, Big Brother had to warn him,
"Further language or behaviour of this nature could lead to you being removed from the Big Brother house".
Rourke later apologised to Siwa and explained the situation to the other housemates, saying that he "Didn't say it out of meanness". According to a transcript released by ITV, Rourke first asked Siwa if she liked boys or girls. To which she replied,
"Girls. My partner is non-binary".
He then went on to tell Siwa,
"If I stay longer than four days, you won't be gay any more".
Siwa responded,
"I can guarantee I'll still be gay and I'll still be in a very happy relationship".
After this, the statement about voting Siwa out for her sexuality was made. Then, he referred to an earlier conversation about the smoking area and exclaimed his need for a cigarette, by saying
"I need a fag,"
before gesturing to Siwa and adding,
"I'm not talking to you".
Former Love Island star Chris Huges had to make sure that Rourke understood that he could not use the homophobic slur towards Siwa, which Rourke ended up denying and instead declared,
"I know. I was talking about a cigarette".
The Wrestler actor was called into the diary room, where Big Brother gave him a formal warning and told him that his language was "offensive and unacceptable".
Rourke responded,
"I apologise. I don't have dishonourable intentions - I'm just talking smack, you know. I wasn't taking it all so serious. I didn't mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry".
After he went back to the main house, Hughes told him Siwa "was very upset earlier", and she informed Rourke it was "not an acceptable word".
He told her,
"I want to apologise. I've got a habit of having a short fuse. And I don't mean nothing by it. I do mean it [sorry]. If I didn't, I wouldn't say it to you."
Siwa then responded with,
"I appreciate your apology".
In a statement shared with Us Weekly regarding the Jojo Siwa controversy, Rourke’s rep Kimberly Hines said that
“Mickey speaks from his heart and means well. He is old school, direct and honest. I have worked closely with him for nine years and he is 100 percent authentically himself. There will never be another Mickey Rourke. Period".
