The Daily Show host Jon Stewart shared his post-election analysis on November 11th, explaining why Kamala Harris was unsuccessful with her presidential campaign. Stewart began by saying that the last time he spoke to his audience, it was very clear that Trump was going to win.
Stewart while highlighting the flaws of Harris' campaign mentioned that Harris had a massive number of volunteers who went out canvassing voter's homes multiple times:
"You know, if there's one thing people love more than someone appearing randomly at their door once, it's that same fucking person coming back two or three times to talk politics.
He added:
"And I'm glad to say Democrats did protect democracy - just for the other side. Because when all is said and done, we had a free and fair election, in which the Democrats had been prepared for almost every scenario but one."
The screen then played clips of various news outlets showcasing people saying that Harris' campaign had many lawyers, county clerks, and secretaries of state on hand while not involving voters.
"They didn't do the woke thing" - says Jon Stewart about the Harris campaign
During his 14-minute long monologue on The Daily Show on November 11, Jon Stewart addressed comments saying that the Democrats were too woke. Jon disregarded the statement and highlighted elements of the Harris campaign contradicting it:
"I only have one problem with the woke theory...I just didn't recall seeing any Democrats running on woke s**t.
While addressing Harris' statement about shooting intruders, Stewart referenced Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney:
"They didn't do the woke thing. They acted like Republicans for the last four months. They wore camo hats and went to Cheney family reunions"-
Stewart added that the Democrats were "mostly running against an identity" that they defined based on outdated events such as the George Floyd incident, and #MeToo Instagram posts from four years ago. Ultimately, Stewart said that the main reason why Harris didn't win was because the country felt "like the government wasn't working for them" and that the Democrats were giving their hard-earned money to less deserving people.
Jon Stewart ended his monologue by assuring people that Donald Trump's second term isn't "forever," and recalled Ronald Reagan's win in 1984 when Democrats only won one state, Minnesota.
