Chasin' You singer, Morgan Wallen, was the musical guest last week on Saturday Night Live (SNL) when he walked off the stage abruptly.

After his exit from the show, the Last Night singer shared an image via Instagram Stories and wrote, “Get me to God’s country,” which later spawned a meme frenzy on social media.

The team at NBC’s late-night sketch comedy show seems to be also cashing in on the viral meme, as they referenced it during the recent cold open. Portraying Donald Trump, James Austin Johnson satirized the current US President’s tariff policies. During the Trump Tariff cold open, Johnson also seemingly took a shot at Morgan Wallen while talking about “Heard and McDonald Island”:

“I even put tariffs on an island uninhabited by humans. It’s called Heard and McDonald Island. McDonald Island. I would love to visit there… Can you imagine that? Big Mac and a hula skirt [...] Get me to God’s country, right? Remember that?”

The remark got a loud cheer from the SNL crowd, while the users on social media applauded different segments of the cold open. Reacting to parody, a user wrote,

“I’m dead! 😂😂😂😂😂😂”

Read on to learn how others reacted to SNL’s jibe at Morgan Wallen, Trump’s tariff policies, and more.

Internet reacts after SNL mocks Morgan Wallen for his “God’s Country” remarks

Saturday Night Live mocking Morgan Wallen’s past week’s comments got many laughs on-air and multiple comments on X.

“@McDonalds island 🏝 sounds fun,” a user wrote.
“McDonald Islands…get me to God’s country!”😂,” another user shared.
“I highly enjoy that they got multiple shots off of @MorganWallen. Much deserved. Many people are saying that. So true folks, so true,” someone added.
“The McDonald tariff is going to rake in the money 💰 😂,” another one reacted.

Netizens also responded to the other parts of the cold open. A user confused the parody with an actual Trump speech,

“For a moment, I thought this was C-SPAN.”

It wasn’t the only time Saturday Night Live mocked Morgan Wallen. During the “Weekend Update” segment, Colin Jost reported on the tariffs and mentioned how they caused a “$6 trillion loss” in the stock market.

The co-host added,

“Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights.”

Despite SNL mocking him for his abrupt exit and internet users meming his “God’s Country” remark, Morgan Wallen has seemingly turned it into a business venture. Earlier this week, on April 1, the country-pop singer launched a clothing line with “Get Me to God’s Country” written on each apparel.

It seems like it wasn’t an April Fool’s Day joke, as Morgan Wallen’s official online store still lists a t-shirt and two variants of baseball caps.
