Ben Affleck has spoken out over his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, describing their split as an amicable decision and claiming he still supports the global superstar.
In a recent interview with GQ, Affleck offered insight into the reasons contributing to their split while shutting down speculation around long-standing issues.

A Respectful Separation
Affleck, 52, and Lopez, 55, finalized their divorce in January 2025 after a little more than two years of marriage. The couple reunited their love of the early 2000s in 2021 and enchanted fans with their second chance at love. But Affleck now admits their divergent attitudes toward public life contributed to their decision to break up.
“I love and support this person,” Affleck said in the interview.
"There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue.”

While Lopez shone brighter than ever, thanks to her Hollywood prominence and spotlight skills, Affleck, on the contrary, has kept most of his personal life a secret from the media. As the director of Argo identifies, the struggle to juggle between these two lifestyles was real.
He further added that she,
"Handled celebrity more adeptly and more adroitly than I have. My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers."

A documentary and a sincere reflection
Affleck also discussed appearing in Lopez’s 2024 documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, centered on their relationship and marriage. Though many speculated that shooting was taking a toll on their marriage, Affleck explained that he agreed to take part to provide a candid look.
"Part of it was, 'Okay, if I’m going to participate in this, I want to try to do it in an honest way and in a way that’s interesting.' Because I thought it was an interesting examination."
A documentary released in late 2024 captured intimate moments of their relationship, and Lopez reflected on love, personal growth, and the pressures of fame.

Life After Divorce
Despite the split between these two stars, they both have progressed in their career paths and personal lives. Insiders who know Lopez have cited that she doesn't have regrets over the fling as she still looks forward to new love in future.
"And I think it’s important to say that wasn’t the cause of some major fracture. It’s not like you can watch that documentary and go, 'Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had,' " he added about the documentary.
On the flip side, Affleck is giving all his energy to his company, Artists Equity, which he co-founded with his long-life friend and co-partner Matt Damon. Artists Equity's mission is to realize a fair and equal Hollywood, which focuses on the fact that payment and opportunities reflect the level of work.
What will happen next with Bennifer?
Although their affairs ended romantically, Affleck and Lopez are determined to preserve their friendship. Ben Affleck co-parents his three kids with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
The couple bought that home for $68 million in 2023, which is now for sale. Yet, the financial aspects of their divorce remain undisclosed matters.

For all that, Affleck always appreciates Lopez's perfection.
"I hope I was clear that really [Lopez] is somebody I have a lot of respect for."
No matter how abruptly things ended, Affleck and Lopez's relationship is still an exemplar of how delicate love can be and how important it is for personal development and fame.
