Best known for her role in Baywatch, Pamela Anderson looked back on battling depression for a decade. During an appearance at the Zurich Film Festival to accept the Golden Eye Award for her latest film, The Last Showgirl, which was released on September 6, Pamela Anderson revealed she was going through depression between filming Baywatch and her Broadway debut.

"I never thought I would be on stage receiving an award like that. I just want to keep working. I am excited to do more. I look at it now and it feels like I went from Baywatch to Broadway. I don't know what happened in between, it's all a big blur, because I think I have had depression for a couple of decades."

She then went on to add; "You never know what you are capable of until you try."

"I don't know if (I've been) clinically depressed" - says Pamela Anderson

Her recent appearance at the Zurich Film Festival isn't the first time Pamela Anderson mentioned coping with depression. While speaking to Radaronline.com recently, the star thanked her children for helping her cope with mental health. The actress uttered a raw confession about feeling insecure,

"I think, instead of trying to be this polished person. I'd rather be raw. One eye is smaller than the other, my nose is crooked, my lips are weird."

While opening up about her past, Pamela noted that she "felt like a failure" ten years ago, or the last 20 years and added,

"I don't know if (I've been) clinically depressed, but I don't mind feeling poetic or having dark days."

The Barb Wire actress opened up that sometimes it takes a little time and "you can also numb yourself out." However, having her kids around helped her have "rootedness" and she "never went too crazy." She added that she was "always having a really good time" and she didn't "go down any dark, dark paths."

While discussing her character in The Last Showgirl, the actor gave credit to the life she has had for being able to play the character.

Directed by Gia Coppola and Kate Gersten, The Last Showgirl showcases the journey for a seasoned showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly shuts down after it's 30-year run.

Anderson previously called the film, "the first time I ever read a good script" and felt that she immediately connected with the role, saying she was "the only one" for this role.
