Paris Jackson recounts her memories with Oscar-winning legend Elizabeth Taylor in the three-part BBC documentary series Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar.

In the first episode, she looks back on her dad, Michael Jackson's friendship with Taylor and explains why she believes her dad chose her to be her godmother,

"I think because I was growing up in the spotlight. There's definitely a part of him that knew that we would have a very similar experience. I was homeschooled and because of that, I don't know what it was like to be around kids my age. Hanging out with adults all the time. And I think it was just the same for her."

Paris had just turned thirteen when Taylor passed away in 2011 at the age of 79. She recalled few memories of when her father would see Taylor and noted that she stood out from everyone, calling her an "exception."

"At the time, I just rememeber how I always wanted to bring her little gifts when we would visit her, like plush toys or bracelets I had found."

Paris Jackson mentioned that when she visited Taylor with her father, she would sit on her bedroom floor with her cat while Taylor and Jackson chatted.

Paris Jackson on growing up as Michael Jackson's daughter

While recalling the younger years of her life in the BBC documentary series Elizabeth Taylor: Real Superstar, Paris Jackson mentioned that she was homeschooled and spent most of her life around adults, not people her age. Since she was Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris grew up under the media's watchful eye,

"I can't speak for everybody who grows up in the spotlight. But there's not a single normal thing about that."

During her appearance on the YouTube series No Filter in 2021, Paris Jackson, while speaking to Naomi Campbell, revealed that although she grew up amidst glitz and glam, her father also taught her about working hard.

"Even growing up it was about earning stuff. If we wanted five toys from FAO Schwarz or Toys "R" Us, we had to read five books. It's earning it, not just being entitled to certain things or thinking, 'Oh, I got this.' It's like working for it, working hard for it, it's something else entirely."

The upcoming documentary series Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar will air episodes 2 and 3 on BBC on October 4 and 11, respectively. The series also features interviews with Kim Kardashian, who executive produced it, and other stars, including Joan Collins and Sharon Stone.
