Chris Rock recently made headlines after he stormed out of Anthony Pratt’s Christmas party during a surprise comedy set at the Mandarin Oriental in New York, according to reports.
The 59-year-old comedian allegedly made an offensive joke about Mexicans. The situation took an unexpected turn when he noticed somebody recording him. He yelled at the person that he “wasn’t supposed to be taped” and left the venue.
Rock started with a political joke in U.S. politics. He quipped,
“Our new push will be outer space. We’ll put all the Mexicans on the rockets.”
The joke initially drew laughter from the audience, but things took a dramatic turn, according to columnist, Cindy Adams of the New York Post.
“Whatever he saw — or thought he saw — upset him,” Adams wrote. Explaining the incident, she mentioned, “He went momentarily ape and shouted something like he wasn't supposed to be taped, videoed, reported, or whatever else wasn’t supposed to happen.
"He was barrelling quickly, forcefully, through people to the exit doors. He kept b****ing loudly and, without a second's hesitation, stormed out — never to return." She added.
Wali Collins and Keith Urban were among the others who performed at the event after Rock's exit. The party was attended by some of Australia’s richest individuals, according to a report in The Standard.
Fans were quick to react to the incident. They shared a series of tweets and memes reflecting upon the controversy.

However, the actor continues to perform at some special events. He is also a part of a major advertising campaign for BetMGM Casino.
