Dylan O'Brien's audition for Frozen 2 didn't go as planned.
During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Dylan O'Brien was asked about his audition for the Disney film's sequel. While recalling the experience, he mentioned that he knew he wasn't going to get the role.
"They're looking for multitalented, multi-hyphenate people who can act and sing. And I didn't check, to be honest, probably either."
The Teen Wolf alum admitted that he "can't sing" but decided to audition anyway since he doesn't "always feel like a real actor." When the host asked how long it took for the casting director to realize that Dylan couldn't sing, the actor said:
"This poor woman. I remember, actually - this is a specific detail - she asked me, painfully, if I could get to the chorus because she needed to see if I had a certain range."
He had been "swimming in the first verse a little bit," and then complied with the woman's request.
"And then I went higher, and it was really bad. I knew. She knew. It's okay."
When the director politely rejected Dylan by saying they were looking for a "stronger singer," the actor agreed and said of the experience:
"I honestly only remember it fondly."

Dylan O'Brien, best known for his roles in Teen Wolf and Maze Runner, discussed playing Dan Aykroyd in his new film, Saturday Night, during his appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
The movie tells the story of what went on behind the scenes 90 minutes before the popular sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live went live for the first time on October 11, 1975.
While talking about how he prepared for the role, Dylan mentioned that he and Aykroyd "mutually decided not to speak" ahead of filming, and director Jason Reitman also discouraged the cast from reaching out to their real-life characters.
However, the actor noted that Aykroyd was asked about his casting at the Ghostbusters premiere, where he said, "Well, I'm just glad the young actor's got work."
The film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1 and also had a screening at the Toronto International Film Festival. It will debut in New York City, Los Angeles, and Toronto on September 27, the night before SNL's landmark 50th season kicks off.
It is then scheduled for a limited theatrical release on October 4 and a wide release on October 11.
