During her appearance on the Conan O' Brian Needs a Friend podcast, Christina Ricci further continued that since she did not think herself as beautiful, she purposefully dressed like the characters from the 80's popular sticker trading cards, Garbage Pail Kids, which also inspired a movie of the same name. In the cards and the movie, the characters are often dressed in what may be perceived as funny fashion. She said:
"Yeah, I had decided if I was going to be that ugly anyways that I was going to dress as hideously as possible, so I wore a lot of like conflicting colors and really big pants and men’s underwear, and it was just my whole style: Garbage Pail Kids."
The Late Night host, had earlier commented on how he thought the "Casper" actress was really cool, saying:
"I remembered seeing you, super cool."
Conan then asked Christina Ricci why she viewed herself in that manner.
"Well, I don’t know why you had that self image."
Promoting her to reply that she was still very young back then, and was not sure about her self image
"I was a teenager."she adds.
Christina Ricci, who received her Hollywood Walk of Fame Star last month, also added in another section of the podcast that she was very pleased with the position of her star, stating.
"I do. I was actually really happy. It was the first thing I asked. That is the first thing I asked. l was like 'where exactly is my star located?' I'm at Hollywood and Vine."
When asked on how she has navigated fame from such a young age, Christina Ricci added:
“I always did not have the objectivity or the ability to analyze myself during those times, those younger ages. So I never really felt famous. I forget a lot. And I was never really comfortable with it. So for me it never really felt like power. It sort of felt like I had to navigate."
During the interview Conan O'Brien also reflected on the time Christina Ricci, who just fifteen years old at that time, had appeared on his talk show, and made him feel intimidated.
"I'm a guy in his thirties, mid thirties, at the time. And I remember being a little bit intimidated, because you were so convincing as Wednesday Addams. You dead pan was so amazing. I was so impressed..still am. But you just so nailed it, at such a young age. I remember thinking like, she could kill me with that look."
Christina Ricci played the iconic character of Wednesday Addams in the 1991 movie, "The Addams Family," and again in the 1993 movie "Addams Family Values."
