Katy Perry was awarded the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award by her partner, Orlando Bloom on September 11, 2024, at the MTV Music Video Awards in New York. While introducing her on stage, Bloom shared a heartfelt message praising her achievements. He expressed how her music provided much-needed joy and laughter, inspiring people across generations worldwide.

You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light and her unique sense of humor to every song she writes and music video she creates. I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same love and joy to our family”
Orlando Bloom finds Katy Perry’s love truly captivating and sees it reflected in their home, her passion for her work, and especially her love for her fans. Her performance at the award show included a medley of her biggest hits like Dark Horse, E.T., Teenage Dream, and I Kissed a Girl, among others.
Katy Perry also previewed her upcoming single, I’m His, He’s Mine, a collaboration with Doechii, who joined her onstage. After her performance, Bloom walked onto the stage with the award. The singer jokingly asked who was taking care of their daughter, to which Bloom responded that he thought she was doing it, before leaving the stage.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom bonded over apple cider vinegar while they were dating
The duo got engaged in 2019 after a three-year-long relationship. Dating rumors started in January 2016 after the two were seen dancing at a Golden Globes party. In the September 5, 2019 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Orlando Bloom revealed that he and Katy Perry initially bonded over apple cider vinegar. He said:
“Crazy story. So, I when I met Katy, one of our first dates, she had a bottle of water. And when you pour it in the water, it makes it go kind of slightly off-colour. And we both had bottles of apple cider vinegar.”
During an episode of Call Me Daddy with Alex Cooper, the singer mentioned that they weren't deeply committed from the beginning. While Bloom had recently completed a significant period of celibacy and had set clear intentions, she had just come out of a relationship and needed to explore new possibilities.
Reportedly, in 2017, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor went to a week-long retreat called the Hoffman process which focuses on rewiring one’s brain in negative patterns of thought and behavior.
Katy Perry stated that her relationship with Orlando Bloom lasted because of the effort they put together like attending couple’s therapy. She said they did that to evolve and become better humans and more importantly, to raise their daughter. The singer shared photos and a video in August 2024, where they were seen jumping out of the helicopter into the sea.
