The View co-host Joy Behar was among the TV show personalities who reacted to the US President Joe Biden's farewell address.
Behar accompanied her co-hosts on The View, and they shared their views on the farewell speech of the outgoing president. Joy Behar took the opportunity to express her thoughts on Biden leaving the office:
"I miss him already. I miss him. He's a good person. You know, he spent the last 50 years caring about the country. This other one spent 50 years scamming everybody, you know, and trying to stay out of jail. You know who I'm talking about."
Joy explained her stance, as she claimed to feel "safe" during Biden's term. The popular TV personality also said:
"You know, I really miss Biden. I feel like we were safe."
She further added:
"Like I didn't have to worry if everything was going to blow up. I could live my life while he was there. Now, every day, I wake up, and I worry, what is this guy going to do next?"
It is not the first time in the last few days that Joy Behar has expressed her opinions on Trump becoming the 47th US President. A couple of days back, The View host criticized the country singer Carrie Underwood for her statement about participating in the second Trump inauguration.
Behar said:
"She says, 'I love our country.' How do you love our country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon. Who really wants to destroy the country in my opinion?"
Due to her remarks on Carrie, Joy was criticized by her former colleague, Elisabeth Hasselbeck. The former The View co-host also called Carrie an "incredible woman" and advised Behar to "learn" from her.
Joy Behar calls out Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos after Biden's farewell speech
Joe Biden, while giving his farewell speech, addressed his fears of an "oligarchy" in the US. The 46th President said:
"Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedom and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead."
Joy Behar used Biden's point to call out billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg, as she addressed them as "Oligarchs" and said:
"They need to start shelling their money out. These guys, Bezos and Musk, they give it to Trump. Do they think they're going to live forever? These people. You know, everybody dies. I hate to break it to them, but you are not gonna live forever."
She also cited the UN World Food Programme (WFP) while adding:
"According to the World Food Programme, we could end world hunger by 2030 with 40 billion dollars. That's all it would take and he, Elon Musk, his net worth grew by $170 billion in the month after the election."
Joy Behar said that billionaires keep on making more money without using it to help the people. The conversation then moved on to other topics, including billionaires' donations to LA wildfires, Jeff Bezos' charitable contributions, and more.
For the unversed, Joy Behar was talking about a statement given by David Beasley, former UN WFP Executive Director, in July 2021. Beasley had called for the US billionaires to contribute and bring world hunger to zero. The ex-WFP Executive Director had claimed that a total of $40 billion/year until 2030 was required to end world hunger.
