Rapper Snoop Dogg was quite vocal about the US Presidential elections in 2020. However, this year, he seemed to have stayed away from making any comments or statements.
As per reports, a now-deleted video went viral on social media platforms like X, where the rapper said he didn’t endorse any candidate because he didn’t want to separate people.
The clip of him making these statements was reportedly taken at Snoop’s launch of his new jewelry line ‘Lovechild’ on November 13, 2024. Entrepreneur Carolyn Rafaelian was also present with him during the event.
Instead of a separatist ideology, Snoop Dogg advocated for a unifying one saying that he would have been criticised if he chose one candidate over the other. Hence, he decided neither. The rapper said,
“And I just want to say this, when all of the hoopla was going on with the voting, notice how I was nowhere to be seen? I wanted it to be like that. Cause I don’t believe in separating people. I believe in bringing us together.”
Snoop Dogg added that he neither supported the Democrats, nor the Republicans. He referred to his song 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted with Tupac Shakur in 1996 as he said he is represented the mothe***cking gangster party.
Internet users were quick to react to his statements as many hinted at financial reasons for him not advocating any candidate during this term’s elections. Previously, he had been a strong supporter of Donald Trump and had defended his decision multiple times.
Snoop Dogg said he had respected Donald Trump as the President was behind the release of Michael Harris
In January 2024, Snoop Dogg said in an exclusive interview with The Times that he had love and respect for Donald Trump after he mentioned how the President pardoned Michael Harris, the co-founder of his first label Death Row.
However, in 2020, the rapper said he would vote for the first time only to remove Trump from office. The rapper also mentioned how he was made to think that he would not be allowed to vote owing to his criminal record. However, since his charges were cleared, he would exercise his franchise as he mentioned,
“I ain’t never voted a day in my life, but this year I think I’m going to get out and vote because I can’t stand to see this punk in office one more year.”
In the same year, he encouraged his fans to cast their votes as he pledged to make a difference together.
The rapper’s new jewelry line is a result of his collaboration with Metal Alchemist and gamma. While speaking about ‘Lovechild’, he said although his family members were behind the idea of its creation, they were never directly involved in its ideation as he believed that their opinions would never allow the jewelry line to see the light of day.
The 45-piece collection is available for buyers at snoop.love. In November 2024, Snoop Dogg also released Gorgeous, which is a part of his upcoming album Missionary. It will be released on December 13, 2024, through Death Row, Aftermath, and Interscope.
