"I was completely psychotic" — Lisa Rinna describes her struggles with postpartum depression after the birth of her younger daughter Amelia

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna recently opened up about suffering from postpartum depression after giving birth to daughter Amelia. She appeared on the April 18 episode of the Let's Not Talk About The Husband podcast, alongside her husband Harry Hamlin.

During the podcast, Harry recalled that she had once threatened to kill him while discussing their two daughters, Delilah Belle and Amelia Gray.

Rinna said that the alleged threat was a result of her postpartum depression.

"I had horrible postpartum depression, but I didn't know what it was, because you know when you have your first baby, you don't know. You just don't know."

Lisa Rinna went through a tough 15-month stretch of postpartum depression after having her first daughter, Delilah, and admitted feeling "absolutely hopeless." The second time around, when she gave birth to Amelia in 2001, her PPD worsened. Harry recalled:

"You said, 'I'm gonna kill you.' And I said, 'You better call Howie (your OB-GYN) right now.' You said, 'You better watch out. I feel like killing you.' You said, 'Keep the knives in the drawer.'"

Lisa Rinna mentioned that she doesn't remember saying those exact words, but she did remember having "horrible hallucinations of killing people." Rinna said she didn't have visions of killing her baby in "any way, shape or form," and her doctor prescribed her antidepressants.

"I was just absolutely hopeless. I don't know how to describe it, because mine didn't manifest itself towards the baby at all. It was towards me. I would say looking back, I was completely psychotic."

Hamlin and Rinna tied the knot in 1997 and have been married for 28 years.
