Cam’Ron has come out against Hollywood's inclination toward casting older actors in action roles, naming Denzel Washington as an example. He sat down for his sports show It Is What It Is on September 3, 2024, to speak about the apparent lack of creativity in the entertainment industry, while directly referring to Rambo 6: New Blood and Denzel Wahington's Equalizer.
He said that he won't be watching the upcoming installment of the Rambo franchise because he doesn't want to see "Rocky beat Rambo at 78 years old, man." Cam’Ron also added that actors in their 70s are doing karate ruins the film for him. He said:
“I love Denzel Washington as an actor; I’m not watching him do karate at 71 years old and all that. I love him, he’s a great actor, but when n-ggas start doing karate in they 70s, I can’t believe the movie. I can’t f**k with Denzel being the Equalizer at 70.”
Cam’Ron and Ma$e talk about Ozempic
While speaking with Ma$e, he also gave the example of Ghostbusters and Bill Murray. He said that no one would want Bill Murray to work on the film again, and it would be better if some young actors were to join the cast.
“If the owner of, let’s just use Ghostbusters, for example, says ‘We don’t want Bill Murray, let’s get some young Ghostbusters,’ the original n***a most likely is going to get paid again because if he didn’t sell the name of the movie or still has the rights to the movie n***a said I’ma eat again.”
On the September 1 episode, the two also touched on topics like weight loss, just after Ma$e delivered a freestyle over Common's The Corner. The Dipper rapper asked him if "he took the needle," to which Ma$e replied that it was a combination of hard work and dieting: fruit, vegetables, and water, in what is known as an alkaline diet.
Cam lauded him for it, saying,
“I like that. You look great, man. You look like you back in high school. I’m happy to see it.”
Cam’Ron joins Lin-Manuel Miranda's Warrior
The rapper will work on Lin-Manuel Miranda's upcoming project, debuting a concept album that draws inspiration from the 1979 film The Warriors. Killa Cam is slated to voice Manhattan, alongside Ghostface Killah, RZA, Marc Anthony, and Coleman Domingo, among others.
The Warriors album will come out on October 18, and has been described as “an immersive listening experience that follows a fictitious New York City gang from Coney Island to the Bronx and back when they are framed for the murder of a respected gang leader, Cyrus.”
