Hugh Jackman reportedly “will be deposed” by Justin Baldoni’s legal team over friendship with Ryan Reynolds

Actor Hugh Jackman is all set to be the latest one who is dragged into the legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. For the unversed, the two starred together in the 2024 film, It Ends With Us. Following the release of the movie, in December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of s*xual harassment as well as creating a "hostile work environment."

In response, Baldoni filed $400 million against Lively and Reynolds. Their trial is scheduled for March 29, 2026, and all parties involved in it have denied all claims.

Ahead of Jackman, it was Taylor Swift whose name was being mentioned in the legal battle. While Swift has been friends with Lively for more than a decade, Hugh Jackman and Reynolds call each other best buddies.

According to Daily Mail, Hugh Jackman will be deposed ahead of the trial as the Australian actor played an important role during It Ends With Us' promotions. The source said:

"Hugh will be deposed if this goes to trial. There is no way that he cannot."

"Baldoni's legal team is doing everything they need to do to get a full scope of Ryan's conduct during the time that It Ends With Us was filmed," the insider added.

"As Ryan's good friend, who starred in the film and was with Blake and Ryan many times in private during that time, his deposition will likely be crucial."

For the unversed, depositions are a part of the pre-trial process. Attorneys prepare their case by interrogating people involved in the legal battle under oath.

Previously, Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman also claimed that Reynolds and Jackman also made fun of Baldoni in their 2024 movie. On The Megyn Kelly Show, Baldoni's lawyer claimed that Reynolds' character of Nicepool, one of the variants of Deadpool, sported a bun and had dialogues which showed his understanding of social activism.

Freedman claimed that all these were nods at Baldoni's previous hairstyle. He further added that Reynolds used his "power and influence on Deadpool and to make fun of Justin Baldoni."

Last year, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman joined hands once again for their much-anticipated movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. The Marvel movie was filmed at the same time as Lively and Baldoni's It Ends With Us. One of the major highlights of the promotions was a mock interview with Brandon Sklenar who played Atlas, Lily Bloom's love interest, in the movie. In the mock interview, first Reynolds, then his mother and, at last, Hugh Jackman asked Sklenar questions about him romancing Lively in the movie.

Taylor Swift was also widely mentioned in the news, as an insider told Daily Mail that the singer will also be questioned under oath. Swift has been friends with Blake Lively for a long time and is also the godmother to her three daughters with Reynolds. However, it has been reported that Swift has not been seen with Lively ever since the Gossip Girl star filed the lawsuit against Baldoni.
