American singer and rapper Jelly Roll's 16-year-old daughter, Bailee Ann, has some ambitious plans other than following in her father's footsteps in music.
During an appearance on November 18's episode of her stepmom Bunnie Xo's podcast Dumb Blonde, Bailee Ann, while talking about her future goals, revealed that she wants to attend law school after graduating high school.
When asked if she wants to follow in her father's footsteps, Bailee revealed,
"I wanna go to Columbia for now. That's where I wanna go, and I wanna study law. As for music, I don't have anylplans for it right now. I don't know if I ever."
Bailee wrote the song, Tears Could Talk, when she was 10 years old and the song featured as a duet on Jelly's A Beautiful Disaster album.
Bailee is the eldest child of Jelly Roll and also has a sibling, Noah Buddy. She lives with her father and her stepmom Bunnie Xo, after the pair was granted full custody following her mother's drug addiction in 2017.
Bailee Ann opens up about wanting to study criminal defense
While opening up about her plans after graduating from high school, Bailee Ann mentioned that she would want to go to Columbia to study law. She noted that the judicial system is complex and has "a lot of loopholes",
"I mean, the whole judicial system is corrupt"
She also added,
"It's wild, to be honest. "And I think that's part of the reason I'm so invested in it, because I really want to turn the judicial system upside down. And the best way to do that is from the inside."
Jelly Roll was in the prison the day Bailee was born. He was incarcerated after hearing about his daughter's birth. While speaking to Billboard about Bailee's birth, Jelly recalled saying,
A guard knocks on my cell door midafternoon during lockdown. He goes, ‘You had a kid today.' “I’ve never had nothing in life that urged me in the moment to know that I had to do something different. I have to figure this out right now.”
The singer said that his daughter's birth "inspired him to change" and he was released just in time to attend Bailee's second birthday. Bailee's biological mother, Felicia Beckwith, also battled long-term addiction and had been to jail multiple times.
In another podcast episode earlier this year, Bailee Ann revealed that she got the chance to reconnect with her mother in 2020. However, things changed when Beckwith started drinking and using drugs again and enabled Bailee who was 14 at the time to use with her.
