Veteran actor and comedian Dick Van Dyke is turning 99 this year and Coldplay has found a unique way to celebrate his life and career. On December 6, 2024, the rock band released a short-film-style music video for its Moon Music ballad All My Love to celebrate Van Dyke’ birthday.
Directed by Spike Jonze and Mary Wigmore, the seven-minute video features Van Dyke dancing barefoot in a suit, showcasing his humor and reflecting on his life, interspersed with scenes of Chris Martin playing the piano.
The veteran actor and the singer were also guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live where they shared stories about their friendship, the video, and tidbits from the music video shoot.
During the show, Chris Martin said his favorite moment from the entire shoot was when Dick Van Dyke’s son Barry Van Dyke came up to his father and asked whether he could turn the pool slide on or not. As everyone burst out in laughter, the Mary Poppins actor said,
“I am old enough to be Joe Biden’s father.”
Coldplay released this director's cut edition of the music video honoring the veteran actor ahead of his birthday on December 13. When Jimmy Kimmel asked him whether he had any plans for his 99th or not, Dick Van Dike jokingly said he would go for a hideout.
He said his kids would come over to his house but the chances of having a party are low. The veteran actor revealed that he still exercises, and goes to the gym. He has also written a book titled Keep Moving which came out in 2015.

Born on May 13, 1950, Christian Van Dyke is Dick Van Dyke and Margie Willett’s eldest child. He is 74 years at present and unlike his father, he did not have a fulfilling career in Hollywood. Christian is an alumnus of Occidental College and Arizona State University, where he studied law. Upon graduation, he became a deputy district attorney in Corvallis. He was married to Caroline Heller.
Barry Van Dyke was born on July 31, 1951, and he is 73 years old now. Although Barry was interested in acting, his father made him wait until he was old enough to pursue the career. He was not an academically inclined child as he did poorly in school. Barry also worked at a local theatre and later had a job on The New Dick Van Dyke Show as a gofer.

The veteran actor’s first daughter and third child is Stacy Van Dyke. Although her exact date of birth is unknown, People Magazine noted her age as 68. Her father admired her for her acting skills and realized her potential when they did a benefit together. Stacy was a part of Barnstormers, a performing group, where she met her husband.
Carrie Beth Van Dyke, the youngest child of the actor, was born on October 18, 1961, and is 63 years old. She barely stayed in the limelight of TV and acting but appeared in two episodes of The New Dick Van Dyke Show. Carrie married musician Kevin McNally whom she met at the Windmill Dinner Theater. The couple has two children.
