In the film Roll Bounce, released in 2005, Bow Wow played the role of Xavier “X” Smith, a young roller-skating enthusiast. At the time of filming, Bow Wow was approximately 18 years old. The movie showcased the vibrant roller-skating culture of the 1970s, highlighting themes of friendship, love, and the importance of community.

Recently, on an appearance on the More To The Story podcast helmed by Rocsi Diaz, Bow Wow reflected on how times have changed since his Roll Bounce days. He outlined the changing landscape of celebrity parties, especially since the legal troubles of Sean “Diddy” Combs have surfaced.

Bow Wow expressed his views on how the celebrity party scene has drastically changed over the years, stating that it feels “dead” compared to the lively atmosphere of the past.

Bow Wow on Diddy

Despite ongoing speculation about Diddy, Bow Wow revealed in the podcast that he was surprised by how Diddy's legal troubles unfolded. He mentioned that he used to view Diddy as the 'gatekeeper' of the music industry, and noted that his absence left a noticeable void. He went on to say that Diddy was 'everything hip-hop'.

Bow Wow noted that "something" was missing, referencing the recent BET Award weekend that lacked the usual energy and celebrations. He also shared his and Jermaine Dupri's disbelief at how someone as influential as Diddy could be involved in serious legal issues.

Bow Wow has a notable history of collaborations with Diddy, including the track 'Let’s Get Down,' which became a popular club anthem. Beyond their musical partnership, Diddy has also served as a mentor to Bow Wow, significantly shaping his approach and determination within the entertainment industry.

Bow Wow on his past lean addiction

Bow Wow has also discussed his past struggles with lean addiction, which led to a hospitalization. Lean, a mix of codeine and promethazine, often referred to as “sizzurp,” significantly impacted his life around 2007.

In his recent appearance on The Art of Dialogue, he shared, “I was drinking that s–t like crazy.” He acknowledged losing control, stating:

“That lean s–t had me f—ed up. I was just always irritated.”

A turning point came when he collapsed on stage during a tour with Chris Brown, prompting him to seek change. He added:

“I’m sitting in the hospital not knowing what the f–k going on, and I get back home and the s–t gets worse. I’m throwing up, I’m shivering in the bed, I’m sweating, I’m going through it. I didn’t know I was having withdrawals. That’s how much lean I was consuming.”

Bow Wow shared that the Chris Brown concert was the moment he realized that he had to get his life together. He also thanked his former publicist, Pattie Webster for releasing a statement saying it was dehydration as they did not want people to know that 'the 18 or 19-year-old Bow was deeply into drinking.'
