Popular Canadian singer Anne Murray recently won a Lifetime Achievement Award at Juno 2025.

This is the 26th Juno Award for the Canadian singer who is also credited with the honor of putting Canadian music on U.S. charts. Murray holds the record for winning the highest number of Juno Awards. Since 1993, the singer has won a total of 25 Juno Awards, which was upped by one more recently.

The award solidified the 79-year-old singer's role in bringing Canadian music to a global map and celebrated a career that spans over four decades.

The country singer was introduced by host Sarah McLachlan, who introduced her by saying that Murray is one of a kind and she grew up listening to her songs as a child. McLachlan said,

"There's no one like her."

Shedding light on the East Coast connection shared by the two,

"Her songs were the soundtrack to my childhood and I still know the words to every one."

McLachlan introduced her by calling Murray 'a true icon' and a woman who has inspired many people with her artistry, unique voice, and confidence to do things her own way.

Murray was donned in a red Canadian jersey and joyfully accepted the honor. The singer spoke about her art and said that singing came naturally to her. She emphasized that for her, singing was as natural as breathing.

"When I look back, it seems clear that singing was not like a choice for me. I had to do it. It was as natural as breathing."

Murray later spoke about her music training and shared some flashbacks from her journey. She said that while she was being trained in classic French and Italian singing, she was a teenager and was interested in rock n' roll.

Anne Murray was born on June 20, 1945, in Springhill, Nova Scotia, Canada. The legendary Canadian country singer is famous for her popular songs such as A Little Good News and Snowbird, along with singing album covers of many popular artists, including the Beatles.

Murray also has the honor of being the first female solo Canadian artist to reach the number one on music charts in the U.S. She also is the first solo woman artist and Canadian singer to win Album of the Year in 1984 at the Country Music Association Award.

As per Britannica, Murray studied piano for six years and started taking singing lessons at the tender age of 15. She has earned a degree in physical education from the University of New Brunswick in the year 1966. Murray's singing career started with television by getting featured in series like Singalong Jubilee. Her debut album, What About Me?, was released in 1968.

After releasing Snowbird in 1970, Murray's popularity broke all records. The singer won Grammy Awards for her songs like Love Song in the year 1974, You Needed Me in the year 1978, Could I Have This Dance? in the year 1980, and A Little Good News in the year 1983.

After laying low during the 1980s, Murray released a hit duet with Bryan Adams titled What Would It Take in 1996. She also released a collection of her best tracks and duets named Duets: Friends & Legends. In 2008, Murray had her last music tour and retired from the industry.

She released her biography titled 'All Of Me' in the year 2009.

Murray was married to Bill Langstroth, who is a music producer and longtime host of Singalong Jubilee. The couple had two children named William and Dawn.
