Singers Azealia Banks and Matty Healy are at loggerheads. It all goes back to when Banks mocked Charli XCX on X for her appearance in the music video Break the Rules. The preceding incidents took a dramatic turn when Banks sent a cease-and-desist letter to Healy, demanding an apology and a settlement of $1 million.
Azealia Banks has a net worth of $3 million according to Celebrity Net Worth. In the letter, Banks’ attorney, Wallace J. Collins III, accused Healy of damaging Bank's professional reputation through documented racial slurs, threats, and recent online posts, which have since been removed.
While noting that these removals implied acknowledgment of wrongdoing, Collins stated he had prepared legal action at Azealia Banks' request but preferred to resolve the matter amicably without court involvement. The letter added,
“If we cannot resolve this satisfactorily and expeditiously without Court intervention, then my client will be forced to commence legal action immediately and seek substantial monetary damages as well as legal fees and appropriate injunctive relief.”
On December 3, 2024, Banks shared an X post writing that Charli XCX used to be ‘pretty’ but implied she wasn’t so anymore. She tweeted,
"Charli used to be soooo pretty. Ugh. Boaaa, I swear them weho gays be having the girls questioning themselves meanwhile they all scraping k off a cookie sheet, eating cold bossanova and sharing panties. Tuh."
Healy, whose X account has been deactivated, responded to Banks’s statement accusing her of being jealous of contemporary female singers. The New Bottega singer clarified her statement while responding to Healy, saying there was a contrast in Charli XCX’s look.
She also criticised the Somebody Else singer’s partner Gabbriette Bechtel saying she looked like Frankenstein. Healy retorted to the statement using harsh words but he later apologised via Reddit mentioning his actions let him down. However, Azealia Banks seemed unimpressed by the apology and accused Matty Healy of not having the respect to apologize to her directly.
Exploring Azealia Banks’s fortune amidst her feud with Matty Healy
Besides her career in the music industry, not much is known about her wealth. As per reports, she signed a $1 million record deal with Entertainment One in 2018 following which, she released multiple tracks.
As per the New York Post, the singer purchased a house in Woodland Hills in 2016 for $850,000 but sold it in 2021 for $845,000, owing to conflicts with her neighbors which took a life-threatening turn at one point. She allegedly listed the house one month after purchasing it, insinuating that she was not pleased with the purchase.
Azealia Banks said the reason she planned to sue Matty Healy was because his comments had caused her severe emotional distress, which began to manifest in physical symptoms. She alleged experiencing shortness of breath, muscle tension, and a migraine, which led her to seek hospital treatment.
After Matty Healy apologized on Reddit, Azealia Banks shared a close-up image of the singer’s teeth, criticizing their dental hygiene. She commented on issues such as insufficient flossing, improper toothpaste use, cigarette smoking, and delayed brushing after coffee, pointing out signs of gum inflammation and possible early gingivitis.
Banks responded on X to accusations of aggression, asserting her First Amendment right to express offensive opinions while emphasizing that threats of physical harm are criminal acts. She criticized white artists who, in her view, aim at her, assuming she won’t respond for fear of being stereotyped as a "violent Black girl."
